Re: Building My Crabitat

So I have some concerns and feel like it would be negligent of me not to voice them... Did you seal the entire inside of the wood with a crab safe epoxy resin? How long did you wait to let the fumes dissipate before adding substrate? Is there exposed pine wood (usually treated with chemicals at the...

My 215G Custom

I'm forever working on decorations, but I thought it might be time to post a few pics. ::RANDOM TAT DETAILS:: - Sub is 5:1 with a shallow layer of EE on top that has a bit of crushed shells randomly thrown around. - Sub is ~15-18 inches deep (slight slope going from 15 in front to 18 in back). - The...

Re: Enjoying some coconut...

He's a cutie and he looks happy, so I wouldn't worry too much about that claw. He'll grow it back! Just keep an eye on him to make sure he stays happy and healthy between now and then!

Re: Building My Crabitat

Wow!! That is awesome! I can't wait to see what it looks like with the little crabbies in it! Are you planning on doing any live plants in there? I will definitely be adding some plants and I already got it set up and actually adopted some crabs yesterday. I'll get some pics of them up soon, I was ...

Inside measurements come out to roughly 215 gallons of space.

Re: Building My Crabitat

this...is...so...EPIC. Great documentation too, what has been your total cost so far? I had a lot of what I needed already on hand so I spent less than $100 on building this bad boy. That's not factoring in what I spent to fill it (substrate, water pools, decor, etc.). Sent from my XT1635-01 using ...

Re: Château Creb: ninety gallons of anomuran madness

The tank I just built has a wooden bottom that you can't see through. I thought for a long time about adding a false bottom, but ultimately decided not to. In my 8 years of crabbing before, I never needed one. I don't over-saturate when mixing my sub and I'm careful about adding any water to the tan...

Re: The Norwegian crabitat

What are all the plants if you remember what they're called? I want to add some live plants into my 'tat but can't decide what I want to try out. Hm there's an elephant foot, the fern is a non- toxic fern bought in a garden/plant store. They all are :) I have to google the rest, found them all on a...

Re: Building My Crabitat

Wonderful tat build !!! The tat looks awesome. You're very creative. What did you use to cover the plastic on the bottom of the tat? It looks interesting. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:  I just used some sort of plastic mesh - I just wanted some sort of extra barrier so the crabs couldn't p...

Re: What To Do With a Bully?

I would isolate him and make sure to feed him lots and lots of proteins to start with. I've never had any aggression this extreme in any of my tanks so I'm not sure what to suggest beyond that. Just make sure to keep him isolated for a while and feed him lots of nutrient rich foods and I'm sure some...

Re: Building My Crabitat

Okay, she's pretty much finished. I have a few little tweaks to make, but that can all be done with crabs in the tank. The substrate was a beast to mix. 550lbs of sand and 5 bricks of EE -- I have another bag of sand and another brick on standby for when this settles over time. It's 15" in the front...

Re: Treating Our Home for Fleas

When we adopted our dog from a rescue group, he was in rough shape. His fur was so matted he had to be completely shaved and of course he was infested with fleas. They got in the house and we ended up having a little trouble getting rid of them. What finally ended up working for us was we got him a ...

That looks so good. I like the idea of a sunken moss pit like that!
