Re: Preferred Shell Guide

Any updates to this?

None of my PPs seem to be interested in the Pica shells. (Which is unfortunate, as I have 3 at the moment)

Re: Chirping

My crabs chirp periodically, I'm not sure why all the time. They seem to chirp at my mother in the morning (she sometimes has to ask me a question before work). Scared the daylights out of her the first time. xD

Re: shell shop and purple castle addition to tank :D

Is hot glue safe? I hope so, because it would make my life one heck of a lot easier. XD

Re: Antlers and Bones

Bones/Antlers would probably make great tank decor. It adds an awesome look to your tank, allows them to climb, and has lots of calcium. Go for it if you get another, I wouldn't try taking it from the dogs. :D

Re: WARNING! All living things half or full pine log!

Deep clean is the only sure fire way to get rid of mold spores. :( I have 2 all living things half-log hideouts myself and never had a mold problem. On a semi-related note, I seem to be one of the few who does not boil/bake/soak in salt water all of the things that I put in the tank. I figure that t...

Re: All living things half log hideout

Update! My crabs did hide under it, though they had to dig down to be able to do so (most of my crabs are medium, I have 2 that are on the cusp between medium and large). I, however, did not like them. I completely rearrange my tank about once a month, so when I did this for September, I took them o...

Re: Crab Handling

Humans smell like food, plain and simple. This is the same creature that will eat fecal matter (even that of humans, gross) if they find it on a beach. Hermit crabs are arthropods, their brains are not very sophisticated; they are more a continuation of their nervous system than a true brain, as we ...

Re: All living things half log hideout

Also, double post. I purchased a wooden bird ladder from "Bob's pet products" which is a division of "North American Pet Products" this is another one that I cannot be certain of. It may be pine, but could be maple.

All living things half log hideout

Alright, so here's the scoop: I went to petsmart today (Yay herp-sale!) and I bought a lot of things. I bought three of these half log hideouts from the Petsmart brand "All Living Things." I did not, however, check what kind of wood they are. Any ideas? I'm fearing that they are pine and will not pl...

The crab LOVED the strawberries and fruit treats! There was three gathered around it at one point and there were only 3 berries remaining this morning! (I put 7 very small wild strawberries in.) For a staple I have freeze-dried shrimp, veggie fish flakes (with spirulina and other kelp/algae), worm c...

Are the leaves and stems of the wild strawberry plant safe? I ask because I have a ton of wild strawberry plants and in the fall they will be long done producing berries.

Well, I'll update with a list of the last four days, since I've only been feeding hermit crabs for four days. Sunday: Fresh slice of Apple They loved it! They dragged it all over the tank, tearing little pieces off) Monday: Sweet pepper and tomato. This they did not like, though it may have had more...
