What color are PPs usually just post-molt?
I've been noticing some crab ligaments strewn throughout the cage the last day or two. Strangely enough some of them had hair from a previous molter. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to which crab it belongs to, but I haven't yet seen him out to check on him. I saw a glance at him and he was a ...

Re: Finally!!!!
Congrats, I love my ecuadorians too! Unfortunately, I am down to just one, but he's a keeper none the less! They definitely are more social during the day than my others.
Good luck!

Re: Sunshine the Mangled [1/09/12 She's Up!!!]
I'm pretty sure they have some form of memeory, because I accidentally dropped the tank lid on my largest crab (like 3 inches); every time the tank lid moves, he now hides (even if they means rolling/falling) into his shell. Previously, he would perk up at the site of the tank lid moving, it meant f...

Mine are definitely not strawberries. This isn't the best photo, but it display's Molly's colour the best (though still not true to life. In real life, it's less brown ) http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/277/5/e/red_by_divine_apathia-d4bryds.jpg eloise, that my dear, is a very pretty shell and...

Re: Australian Crab Owner
That's too funny about Ham's shell. I have one guy who won't leave a painted shell too! Your jumbo is adorable, I hope you post more pics of your AUSs as we can't find them here in the US so they fascinate me. It's pretty typical for the stores to be more about the money than the conditions, I had a...

Re: Fiddler Crabs (9/10 - 29G tank is DONE! w/pics)
I wouldn't know how to make the one large tank work with what we have right now. (And I had thought about it. ) The fids need a lot of water space, and the hermits need a lot of land space. I was also worried about potential leaks since it would have to be a custom job. If I could do somethin...

Re: Fiddler Crabs (9/10 - 29G tank is DONE! w/pics)
Those huge claws on the males make them intimidating. Have you considered making a huge brackish/land tank that contained the hermits and the fiddlers since they each pretty much stay on separate area (land/water)?
Also, your blog is great. I've got to get one going.

Do you think that craw will grow larger than the previous claw? I'm so glad she made it and it seems like you're an excellent crab vet!

I really like your blog! I enjoyed the pictures of your crabbies and their favorite spots, etc
I didn't notice the name in the masthead, you may want to change it to white instead of transparent, it took me analyzing the crab to find it!!

Re: Are there any species of crabs that don't get along?
Wow, have you had luck with your straws lasting a while? I want some desperately, but I'm worried about keeping them! Also where did you get your cuttlebone? I got mine but its meant fo rbirds and has a metal piece across the middle so I dont put the whole thing in and instead break it off piece by ...
