Re: Crab Toy Recommendations

Hello! I'm a fairly new hermit crab owner and I'd like to spoil my little friends with some new toys! (The climbing toys I have currently are bare minimum) I do have a few questions about the kinds of toys, brands, and materials that are safe/unsafe for my hermit crabs. 1. Are plastic substitutes f...

Re: Should I get crabs?

Crabs tend to be a hands off animal since they require a warm humid environment in which our homes usually fail to deliver. They prey animals as well, and constant handling can lead to elevated stress levels.... so general consensus is to keep things hands off. You can certainly handle them, but man...

Re: Tank Flooded

If the sand hasn't changed colour or smells lile rotten eggs, you could dry it out by baking the sand in the oven for 30 mins at a moderate temp (150-250F) until dry. It be labour intensive and a lot easier to just buy new substrate.... but drying out half of the substrate, allowing to cool and then...

Re: Hamster wheel, yes or no?

What is the name of the plastic that everyone is using for the inside of their wheels and other things? I am going to get a hamster wheel and I want to line it. I know one of my three crabs will love it. Most call it plastic needlepoint canvas (craft mesh or canvas mesh)... Sent from my SM-G935F us...

Nicely done! I think it looks amazing.

Congrats on the teeny crab! I know what you mean about them being so small, I do the same with mine... anything looks big next to them!

Re: Two new lil guys!

Thanks guys! I luckily found some shells their size to keep em happy, so hopefully it will do for the timebeing. They a little too big, but good growing room I guess? Edit: in some of the pics, they both in it but one is hiding underneath the pothos and a little hard to make out. They really do blen...

Re: Flukers natural wood half log cavern

People have had it with their crabs without issue. Some have expressed concerns of using 'evergreens' with crabs due to the oils they contain, which is a natural insecticide.... Old wood don't contain these oils, but some like to err on the side of caution and not have anything potentially dangerous...

Re: Two new lil guys!

Thanks! I really finding these little ones so comical.. I'm use to big crabs, and when I see the little ones move they look like little pebbles walking - or when they not moving, its so hard to spot them! They both really enjoy the background at least! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190412/5f96d...

Two new lil guys!

Welp. Came home with 2 new crabs. Was going to go to a new store near my uni, ended up doing a bit of retail therapy in the process. Two new hermies, and a few fish related things later... you know the drill [emoji52][emoji52][emoji52] https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190412/45fa2c1238cc836bd442ed...

Re: Too Deep?

As long as they can easily get in/out, it will be fine.

Re: Water Pool Tray Size? Too Big Or Too Little?

That could work!

Another idea is to elevate the pools slightly, by using a level - one could even be made out of eggcrate ;) - and then walking space and hiding space is increased - not to mention available surface area.
