Re: Number of Crabs Opinions??

E's need a lot more space than most. You could probably get away with two imo. I have a 150 gallon tank I have my E's in with lots of levels and everything, and they STILL tear it up. lol.

Re: Petco $1 per gallon

Been waiting for this again. I always grab the largest size everytime. Might seem a little obsessive, but I have a massive amount of rescued crabs and constantly adopt haha.

Re: Es or Strawberries?

Strawberries are not the crab you want to get for only crabbing a month. They require a constant temp and humidity and any fluctuation is a no-go. You did mention a humidity problem. Also, since it takes a while to get a new tank leveled out, that will still be a problem until it does so. People who...

Re: Is hard water causing my crab to look ashy?

We have well tap water. We have a really high ph. So apparently it's something else for me haha. I stopped caring about the appearence of the shells since they seems to scruff them up anyways. I can try all I want with a shell shop to keep them clean but nope, they will dump them out.

Re: Is hard water causing my crab to look ashy?

I remember how mad I was when I got new shells and cleaned them with the hard water I have and they looked all ashy. I was like, oh well they don't care anyways. That's the only reason I thought it was the water.

Re: Okay what do you think and what am i missing

A five gallon tank for even three smalls is way to small. Though I do understand your predicament. Part of the problem with small tanks is not enough room and they will possibly fight. Also just saw you were using aquarium salt, it is not the kind of salt water they need and does nothing for them. B...

Re: Is hard water causing my crab to look ashy?

If you pay a water bill you have city after which is always treated. Get a dechlor asap.
I have a well system. So I don't have to worry about chlorine. But I have hard water so my shells and sometimes crabs look like that.

Re: New Strawberry Owner

One of my straws has stripes of dark dark red. Think he might be one of those? I doubt it. Straws come in all colors. I have some that are completely mixed in color patterns. I am proud to say I've had to same straw for 2 years. They are difficult to keep. Lots of salt water, substrate and humidity...

Re: tank mod:humidity

When using a bin, I find the best option is to use the actual lid of the bin. You just drill a few holes on one side to give it some air flow.

Re: small pp in distress - deshelled

Don't use seasalt from the grocery store, everyone here will tell you that. It is not safe. Instant Ocean is 100% safe to use, a lot of people here use that. It's in the fish section. You do still need to use it with dechlorinated water though. This article here will give you all of the info you nee...
