Kelp meal? Crab/lobster shell meal?

Would these be good supplements similar to green sand? It looks like they are one ingredient “fertilizers”. I’m guessing the crab/lobster shells are byproducts of food industry so wouldn’t contain any Xanthidaes species. Although could this contain any sort of transmittable diseases still? I’m think...

Size of greensand?

I noticed this brand of greensand comes in micronized, granular, and powder sized particles. I’m guessing micronized has been broken down further than the powdered? But can it get too small? Would the smallest particles possibly be the best? Super Greensand Micronized, 68 Minerals and Trace Elements...

Man these guys really pile up sometimes…can’t put anything down or touch stuff without them hopping on. Seem to come in waves so hopefully they’ll disappear again soon [emoji28] maybe I’ll have to try some isopods again. https://imgur.com/a/YIbYsBk

Re: Anyone recognize this homemade food?

I cant be sure what the white pebbles are. They could be shells or some other kind of calcium. It's probably fine to give them if it's from a hermit crab online store, but if your uncomfortable giving them something unknown then you could always pick them out. Thanks! I figured it would be safe foo...

Yeah, it does look like crushed oyster shells. I’ve never ordered it but looks the same as photos.

Re: Mite ID Help

I’d say they’re pretty quick. They’ll actually crawl all over my hand and arm if I pick something up and they’re on it.

Mite ID Help

Can’t tell if they are food or soil mites. They do crawl on the outside of the tank as well. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221008/3676216a5b6b2a51ceedc710e7f02143.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221008/429259f397da5b7eda6dfebad4e9db0a.jpg I don’t know if anyone can tell based on color? Thanks aussieJJDude ! I only put one near the pump itself since I was following a YouTube tutorial. I can add some more valves in when I get home tonight.

Re: Help! Trying to cycle new tanks, readings don’t look promising

Thanks everyone I’ll give it some time and see how any mess added works. On another note I bought the tetra air pumps for up to 10 gallons but it doesn’t seem able to support both an air stone and the filter. I got one for each tank since one couldn’t support both. But now that it’s one filter and a...

Re: Help! Trying to cycle new tanks, readings don’t look promising

They do have access now, but I could put any crabs that are currently up in my other crab tanks for the time being should I need to. I put six I just adopted in the tank with the pools. I haven’t finished the topper to connect them yet. What would I add at this point while they have access? Like wou...

Help! Trying to cycle new tanks, readings don’t look promising

To preface this I’ll say I’ve never started an aquarium before. I started freshwater and saltwater tanks last week, each 2.5 gallons with filters and bubblers. I used api quick start to introduce bacteria but I’m wondering if they’ve died off since there isn’t as much ammonia being added as would be...

Re: New crabs! X-Large? Jumbo? And a Second Buddy

Update on the big guy! Well I had him in an iso tub after his tunnel collapsed since it was looking like he was going to molt. After about a week in there I let him out feeling horrible he hadn’t actually molted. He ate a big meal then I didn’t see him so I thought he burrowed down to molt on his ow...
