What's your favorite Books?

One of my favorites was the true account of Ernest Shackelton and the attempt to get to the south pole.

Caught a stomach bug have been sick for two days..

Hang in there, get well soon. I know that when I get cold and tired and stressed it is a bad combination, that’s when I get sick. I too hope you can keep your crabs and continue helping on the forum, I really appreciate your input on such a wide variety of subjects. BTW, Got to add Dog the bounty hu...

gnat season/ fruit fly

I missed this post, sorry. The sticky strips would work well as Laurie says if the crabs can’t get close, but the lid i have is prime climbing territory in the tank. I don’t (can’t) stop them from climbing around, and I’m afraid they will get into the stuff. It is usually very dry here except this y...

I now work at a pet store and we sell crabs. Input?

They are selling the crabs as low maintenance pets that are cheap and easy to care for. If they stocked proper foods and amenities, it could benefit their bottom line, sales. But as we all know, we need to get most of our supplies elsewhere. Would sales would be lower if people knew they had to buy ...

I just don't get it.

I too wish the best and pray for you and your family. Hold to your faith and know that a lot of people here (and elsewhere Im sure) care about and appreciate you and all the talents and knowledge you have used to help so many people. I am unemployed and know how frustrating it can be. Don’t give up,...

Hermit in Dr Pepper can ad

No, I would rather doubt they only mate once, but that bit was for the effect of the ad. I mean if you only had one shot, you must include the sponsoring brand to ensure success (as said sponsor argued). I liked the documentary tone they gave it, almost made it all seem entirely factual in a humorou...

gnat season/ fruit fly

I used to shoo them but the crabs really didn’t like all that motion over their heads, not to mention I had all these little buggers flying around the house. They have enough trouble with the lid being open. Now, when ‘bust' the gnats I make sure the dust buster doesn’t touch the tank and vibrate it...

Hermit in Dr Pepper can ad

Thanks for finding the video on Youtube, ("Dr Pepper Hermit Crab") seeing the whole thing in context helps a bunch. It was obviously tongue-in-cheek humor aimed at young people. Ok, it was cute too. When I first saw the ad, or only half of it actually, thoughts of crabs having to use whatever they c...

Hermit in Dr Pepper can ad

Has anyone seen a new ad for Dr Pepper? I only caught half of it. It has a rather large crab using a can for a shell which looked as though the opening would be way too small for its tail. all I could think about when I saw it was how the crab was going to get its tail cut off from the sharp can ope...

Strange molt deformity on BP

I adopted a pp once that had a large pincher that looked as though another crab had grabbed a hold of it while it was still soft and mashed it. It molted and no indication of a deformity was visible. Yes Crabber85, I could see how unshed exo could cause this.

gnat season/ fruit fly

paperheartz; quote:Ya blowing in the tank seems to get them going. But how do you catch them with the dustbuster? I would think that would be too messy and end up sucking up a lot of substrate and stuff. I could just see it going bad. I don’t have to go far into the tank. The lid is a quarter tank t...

gnat season/ fruit fly

I remember once when I opened the tank top I saw one little fly go in towards the full spectrum light and I have had them ever since. When feeding time comes I blow on the substrate like paperheartz does and then I take the dustbuster and suck a couple up. Right now there are a lot of baby crickets ...

Its a sad day in the Star Trek universe, RIP Lenard Nimoy.

True story, always wanted to tell it in detail.I was able to meet Lenard Nimoy when I was a kid. This was before all the comic-con/Star Trek craze, early 70’s. It was at a car show in Denver where he was an added attraction. I remember the radio publicity of his pending appearance and imagined the c...

Shrimp quality

We also feed ours lots of shrimp. The party tray style package which are lightly frozen, pre-cooked, and shelled are pretty good right out of the package. These have a little ice on them (not treated water I’m sure) which I thaw off by soaking them in their prepared salt water till they thaw and the...
