Re: Wasatch Reptile Expo

I think it would be cool to out together an HCA info sheet of how to contact us and access our thread. We could give the card to vendors to give away with each hermit crab. Then crabs would have the right care and the vendors would get more sales.

Re: Local Library

Thanks guys :) the one librarian I worked with got the rest excited because the crabs are active. Switching shells, climbing, etc and kids know their names now. She did accidentally flood the tank a little bit but we took the cover off. Since it's a 10g and in Utah it will be fixed in a week lol Sen...

Local Library

A few weeks ago I noticed my local library had a 10g hermit crab tank. It wasn't as bad as the pet shop set ups, I could tell they were trying their best and was stoked they have them. They wanted to have the crabs healthy and active and I told them I could help. I donated some of my old stuff, hook...

Re: New Bling

Thanks guys. The polished turbos are my favorite. And yeah he is big. I've had him for over 10 years. It's time for a big old tank because I still want more crabs :)

New Bling

I do this thing with my shells when I notice my crabs getting bored of them I take them out for a week or two. Then I put the same exact shells in and shell shopping and shell changes occur. Thing one is now rocking some new bling. He tried on two different shells before landing on this sparkly thir...

It must be from that salt lamp then. It is only on the front of the tank.

Green Mold?

Ok guys this is a new one for me. What's the green stuff in my substrate? It's only on the front side of my tank? Could it have anything to do with the salt lamp I had on the last few nights? Is it damaging to my crabs? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181110/7bee656659fc96006dc39ff2f0611583.jpg S...

Re: Long term planning.....

Volume is just as important as surface area. On beaches they can run for as long as they want, dig as deep as they want, and climb to the highest tree that they want. A tank that is really tall but narrow isn't great for crabs unless you can add a significant amount of depth to it. I am setting up m...
