Re: New tank and pics!

Oh WOW! He is gorgeous!!! :D Thank you! :D Did you adopt him that color, or did he molt into it? If so, what do you feed him  He was a really small guy when I got him and a normal reddish color. He just sort of slowly turned purply blue. All my crabs eat almost exclusively from The Hermit Crab...

Re: New tank and pics!

The last picture is a purple pincher? He looks so purple! From that picture he looks like an indo or a blueberry. I only have purple pinchers so I don't know much about other species but he is sure pretty! Thanks, I think he's my prettiest colored one. :) I wish he was an indo or blueberry, but he'...

Yep, Purple Pincher! I have a couple that are a little purple, but he's definitely my most unique! He started off the more normal reddish color and then grew into this. I hope he stays like this.

New tank and pics!

First off, hi guys! I haven't been on in ages and I still won't be consistent at all, but I miss being active on here and wanted to share an update. We're in the process of settling into a new house, and yesterday we finally got the crabs moved over. The bad news but also good news - My humidifer ha...

Re: Zoo Med Repti fogger ....

I haven't used that one, but I do use a humidifier for both my tanks (Crane ultrasonic drop humidifier with a tube running from it). The Reptifogger doesn't have great reviews, at least according to Amazon.com. One thing to keep in mind is running any humidifier can increase your risk of a flood - i...

Re: Need some advice for my gimpy crab.

I'm wondering if I give him another week or so in iso if he'll figure out how to compensate better and I'll try again. I've had crabs missing just one leg that do just fine, but I think he's still adjusting to missing 2. He's doing fine in his KK - eating everything in sight and drinking/soaking in ...

Please tell me that is a how I met your mother inspired name! Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk About time someone recognized that! Hahaha. Awww, how cute is Swarly! That little thing is the ruler, hugh? :? Of course! He climbs all over everyone and no one questions his ruling. It ...

Re: Need some advice for my gimpy crab.

Annnnd he failed the water bowl test. He sat there forever, seemed content, then tried and failed several times to climb out. Oh well..the KK isn't a big deal and it gives another climbing obstacle to the crabs in the 40, haha. Crossing my fingers he can dig without issues to molt.

Swarly, ruler of the 55.

He is tough and mighty and fearless! ;)

He's also only about the size of my big guy's BP, but don't tell him that.

Re: Need some advice for my gimpy crab.

It sounds a little cruel, but for safety - before he goes in the big tank, dump him in water bowl and watch to make sure he can climb out. If he struggles, ISO is best! That's a great idea! I told my husband and he was confused...He said "So if he drowns he should've stayed in iso?" :hlol: I'll tes...

Re: Hanging "Shell Shops"

My shell shops are both elevated without any issues. The only time I ever have shells on the substrate level is if I have a new crab - I plop a couple near them so they don't have to go looking. Even that isn't really necessary, it just makes me feel better. I'm not sure if they keep track of ...

Re: Need some advice for my gimpy crab.

Thanks Calla! He doesn't seem especially weak, just awkward. I just wasn't sure how he'd do in a big tank since he's missing both legs on his right side. I'm probably just worrying about him too much :)
