Re: So it's been a while...

Lol...I recognize those long rectangular baskets! I rehomed Jeff and Jerry with you, and am SO grateful to you for taking them! They look terrific, and I know they're happier in a tankful of crabby friends. (And dining on squid and honey, no less.) Best of luck with your studies. You'll be a great ...

Re: So it's been a while...

I got the baskets with an adoption. The longer rectangle baskets are great for smaller crabs. They seem to feel secure in them. My big crabs sleep in the square basket every day. It's pretty adorable lol.

Re: So it's been a while...

Thanks guys! It's good to hear from you guys! I'm glad I got a chance to catch up a bit. I've missed the forum! Aussie you have NO idea the paradise she's living in. She's living in a beachfront house and wild horses commonly show up in her FRONT YARD. The wildlife is breathtaking. The wild iguanas,...

So it's been a while...

It feels like it's been ages since I've checked in on HCA! I'm going to school to be a vet tech. The good news is that I spend most of my time learning about or spending time with animals. Sad part is that I rarely get to catch up here. So here goes about a year worth of catching up. I can't even re...

Re: What are your crabs up to?

Well I never thought I would say this but my big guy Bob has been down for about 10 days and I am so RELIEVED! I may even break out in a happy dance! He's my largest crab teetering on the medium to large side. I've had him for going on 13 months and he's never dug down for more than a day or two. I ...

Re: What are your crabs up to?

Window molter is almost done eating the exo. Only a part of the big claw is left. Image

Checked on my window molter tonight. The crab has eaten most of its exo and has grown and darkened a bit. Image

Re: What are your crabs up to?

For the first time over the last year, I found two visible caves! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/11/74b1ea571ed24e3552e8905a78052857.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/11/8068db4792ac981d4bf596b4b500c956.jpg This was a few days ago. I was pretty excited but I figured neither would stay l...

Re: Isopods!

Yes! We just took about 15 of them out and put in the main tank. I assumed the little guys in the main tank had been eaten but found some that were just a little bit bigger than baby size digging in the sub. Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk That's awesome! I have yet to find any babies in the bi...

Re: Isopods!

Soilentgringa, I tried out the dried bugs. I ground down a mixture of crickets, grasshoppers, and mealworms. I put it on a little dish with this salad mix that came with a recent adoption. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/05/392cd37c1e95b636859d255d08f66b58.jpg They LOVE it! Within a few hours I...

Should I keep him in iso?

Last week I adopted a few new crabs. One of the crabs I adopted was dug up for transportation and had JUST molted. He was very soft and pink so I immediately isolated him. Since then he has darkened and hardened. I'm having a hard time deciding if I should add him to the main tank or not. In my mind...

Re: Two adoptions in one day!!!

Saw the first signs of life from Hercules tonight! He was the molter who accidentally got dug up. I'm so excited! He's started to darken up and he moved from one side of the tank to the other and had even climbed a little bit! When he got here he was super pale and pink and soft. So happy to see him...

Re: What are your crabs up to?

Madison sat in the dark corner of the tank for half the day today. She had finally switched out of her shell into a new one. But she was still guarding her old shell. She has lost her favorite shell during a 'try out' with a new one before so I think she was really giving the shell a test drive befo...
