Re: Bugs and mold- crab safe cleaning supplies

Vinegar is a safe natural disinfectant you can use in your tank. If the dishes are not plastic or other substances that melt you cab boil them to disinfect them as well. I think the standard procedure is fifteen minutes. You could add some salt while you boil them I you want to be extra sure, at lea...

Re: Suggestions Please -Upgraging

The large crab needs 10 gallons just for itself. If each medium needs 5 gallons, taking into account that they will grow in good conditions, for the 4 crabs you will need at least a 30 gallon tank. If they won't let you properly care for them then maybe it is best to ask for permission to rehome. P...

Re: Suggestions Please -Upgraging

I actually read your care page a YEAR ago from today give or take a week or two :) I am aware of what it says, and the reason why the original two before the rescue has survived this long. I think for the most part I have basic care down pat. But thanks for thinking of me. As for the second one. I c...

The kids at really interested and all pitch in to help take care of them. The advantage of my room also is that during the school year its only occ...

Suggestions Please -Upgraging

I am a teacher of an after school program for school agers at KinderCare Learning Centers. Our Director about a year ago got every classroom a class pet. The school age room was elected to get hermit crabs. All I will say when I came into the picture the conditions were improved to the best of my ab...

Re: PETA: 7 Reasons Why You Should Never Buy a Hermit Crab

The article itself was made with the good of mind. However, don't most proper pet owners research their pets before they get them. Then you don't run into some of the problems her cage had. Plus I find it ironic that the author advocates for no hermit crabs for pets, but gives you a care guide.

Re: Air-dry clay

It was the type for the kids. It was just a thought I was thinking of using it with an Aquarium sealant combo as a sort of insulated cave. But I will think of something different then.

best way to go about making a climbing area

So over time I have gotten a small moss pit I was planning on using as a second level jumping off point. I am wondering could I just leave some of the moss hanging over the side for them to climb up with or would they need something more stable. Like a sturdy branch or something of the sort. I don't...
