Re: The Shell Removal Experiment

That's true. Like I have said in the end do what is best for your crabs. You are the best expert on your colony. It was intresting to see the lack of intrest on my colony last week when they have shown a lot of intrest before. Maybe they just have found good shells for themselves for now. We will se...

Re: How should I prepare???

I just give them a rinse and put them in. Sometime I put them in as is, they seem to like the clear lining when I do. Sometime I crumble then. It just depends.

Re: How should I chop food?

Yes I just cut off a section and toss it in. If it is hard, I migjt dice or grind it most vegetables if cooked already are soft. Generally my medium sized crabs dont seem to habe an issue

Re: How should I chop food?

I personally do not. I find my crabs like picking at it a do not seem to have much problems.

I do grind up things like nuts or split open chicken bones and the like however for them.

Re: Molting or dying possibly?

I will try to move him into a container. Should I put some sub in there for him? My substrate is about 6 inches I only saw his shell cause he didn’t dig very far down that’s why I thought maybe he was just destressing. He is about the size of a quarter so I figured 6 inches would be enough Sent fro...

Re: Molting or dying possibly?

My crab that is molting is right below him so unfortunately putting a bottle or tub over him would trap both of them in there and I don’t want to move him. :( Also, I know you’re not supposed to dig for them when they’re molting I had no control over that though so I’m just trying to wait it out Se...

Re: Molting or dying possibly?

You should isolate the crab from other crabs. If it is indeed molting it is in danger of being attacked. This could be easily dine with a margrin tub or the top part of a come bottle if you do not have another tank to move them to. You can provide small amounts of food and watwr using caps to drink ...
