Adding sand with a molter??
So I have noticed a few over wet patches at the bottom of my sub and want to add sand to the bottom of the tank. However I have a molter down. (I only have 2 crabbys) I think I know where the molter is under, and I don't want to leave those wet patches (caused by a crab digging under the water dish ...

Re: HELP! old crab chased new crab out of its shell!!!
Well, everyone is okay now. The shell stealer FINALLY found a shell that was acceptable to her today. The one who had the shell taken has gotten her shell back and is underground. No more issues now. I think she just couldn't find a shell she liked in what I had. I added new ones and she finally cho...

Re: HELP! old crab chased new crab out of its shell!!!
**UPDATE** The new crab returned to her shell. She hasn't dug back under and I am keeping an eye on the older one. The older one hasn't picked a new shell out either. But I am going to give them time and space and hopefully they work it out!

HELP! old crab chased new crab out of its shell!!!
So I have a crab I've had almost 2 years, just added a new crab a couple weeks ago. This morning I found that the old crab was digging into the hole where the new crab has been hiding for a few days. I took her out several times but she kept going back! I had to leave for the day and I come home to ...

Re: Crabitat Smells Bad
[quote="purpleperson"]Is your sub grey or black anywhere? Overly damp? That can be a sign of a bacterial bloom under the sand. Is it possible they hid some food somewhere that's rotting and you just don't know where it is? I did find some food. I did find some over-wet places. I will try to remove a...

Re: Crabitat Smells Bad
I took out all the plants and decorations and found some old food. Think this was the source of the smell as its better this morning. However I have found a bit of algae and some over-wet places that I need to deal with. Just concerned about my recently buried crab!

Crabitat Smells Bad
So my crabitat has been set up for nearly 2 years. I have the recommended mix of EE and sand and keep the humidity & temp above 80. I have noticed over the last week it smells bad. Not the usual damp dirt/sand smell, but kind of sour. Like something is rotting. I change food/water daily. I have 2 cr...

Re: Could she be molting AGAIN?
Thank you! I am hoping that is why she went back down and not because I stressed her to death!Teedeums wrote:When crabs lose limbs right after a molt, they sometimes go down early to grow the limb back. It is most likely that she is molting again, which is a good thing.

Could she be molting AGAIN?
I posted a few days ago about a molter I accidentally uncovered. She was up and all over the tank that day. She ate and spent a lot of time in the salt water pool ( nearly emptied it!) and then the next morning she was under again. Is this a good or bad thing? She looked to me like she had molted wh...

She seems fine, but she is small. I will just watch and see what happens. Thanks for answering my question!

Re: Gel limb after a molt???
So will she molt again soon? And she seems to be able to feed herself and she's very active.

Gel limb after a molt???
I have a crab that was under for over a month. When I accidentally caved her tunnel in she came up. She has been very active since she came up. She is dark in color so I think her exo has hardened, but she has a gel limb where her little pincher should be. Will she need to molt again for the limb to...
