Re: I need help..

As a update I want to add he's currently in a iso tank with a little water on the bottom an some shells. He's refusing the shells. Very weak, barely moving, appears to be even lighter in color almost white.

Re: I need help..

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? Sand, eight inches 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read? One for temp an humidity mounted mid tank. They stay pret...

I need help..

I need some insight. Three times now I've had a crab come up after being buried really light colored. They hang around like normal for a couple days then decide to run naked an end up dying. I've gotten each one to reshell but they still die shortly later. I thought it was something I did wrong with...

Crickets got into my tank?

Im sorry if this isn't the right area to post this but I'm not sure where to put it. Somehow I ended up with some crickets in my crab tank. Beyond being annoying at night to hear will they hurt my crabs? I kill the ones I can find but I'm obviously missing a few. I really don't want to tear my tank ...

Re: How long are crabs safe out of habitat?

Really? So even handling them isn't the norm? My smaller crabs I let be but my jumbo and two large ones are the three who I'll handle and allow to roam around.

How long are crabs safe out of habitat?

I often try to take my crabs out of the tank and let them run around my floor but get worried after a few minutes that I could be hurting them because of the lack of proper conditions. So how long is it safe for me to allow them out to exercise? I've searched around but haven't been able to find a a...

Re: Crabs not interested in shells?

They are all purple pinchers. To my knowledge they all seem healthy an have molted numerous times I just wasn't sure if something was wrong or I was doing something wrong. I do know Ecuadorians are extremely picky I had two that sadly passed who changed often but we're always back in the old shell s...

Crabs not interested in shells?

How can I make them interested in extra shells? I have spent soo much money on new shells for my crabs over the past year I've had them. I've tried different sizes, shapes, thin an thick ones. I rotate them with different ones often, they are on my second shelf to keep the inside clean. Only one in ...

Is plastic safe?

I assume it is safe but would like to confirm that. I made a second level from a cut bin lid an some large suction cups (some as seen on tv product. All plastic) to hold it up. I also have some zip ties in the tank to attach the vines I'm using as a bridge for access to the second level. Also to avo...

Re: Unburied molt? Half ate crab? Help!

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? I use a mixture of mostly play sand with eco earth mixed in. My substrate is about 7half/8 inches deep. More than deep enough for my largest. I would like to add more but because of my false bottom one of their climbing sticks alread...

Unburied molt? Half ate crab? Help!

Is it possible for other crabs to completely eat the legs and claws from a molting crab without me knowing so? A couple days ago I noticed a shell in a hole with a crab standing on top it. Thinking it was weird because the shells stay on the other side of the tank I picked it up and moved it with th...

Water under false bottom in tank?

Months prior I had a problem with my tank flooding so I emptied everything and built a false bottom. My problem is living in the desert I have a hard time keeping the humidity at safe levels even with the tank wrapped three sides around and a glass top seals it with only a gap for air to circulate. ...

Stacked aquariums?

I acquired a screen reptile enclosure today and I was thinking of fixing it on top of my aquarium to give the crabs more space to climb. Between my false bottom and the substrate they have little vertical climbing space. Would this work? How would I keep the humidity up if so?

Re: Mites, standing water and molters. HELPPPP!

I think the issue started when i was having a problem with the humidity staying up, i was spraying the tank multiple times per day to keep it at 80%. I took your advice emptied the whole tank and threw together a quick false bottom with a tube running out to siphon out the water should it happen aga...
