Re: Lowering Crabitat Temperature
One thing you didn't mention is if you are using a heat source or not for the tank? If you are, then a thermostat or rheostat would probably help.

Re: What's the maximum humidity level
Are you sure 102 isn't a temp reading? I'm no meteorologist, but I don't think it is possible to achieve a humidity reading over 100%.

Safe moss for crabs?
I'm thinking about adding some moss to the second level of my crabitat. I work next door to Lowes. Would this be safe to use?

Re: Newly added 2nd level and shells
Yes, four suction cups. Plus, I cut it a little snug, so it's basically lodged in there so tight, that it doesn't really need the suction cups, but they are there for added security.CallaLily wrote:Nice! How is it held up? I think I see a suction cup?

Re: Newly added 2nd level and shells
It is egg crate/fluorescent light diffuser panel with burlap sewn around it (like a pillow case).hermieluv1 wrote:What is the second level platform made of? I love it!

Newly added 2nd level and shells
We just got our new crabs a week ago, and yesterday we added a second level, and got the habitat stocked with our new shells from Naples Seashell. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll204/chapskis1/image.jpg1.jpg After having the shells in the tank for less than 24 hours, we have had 3 of the 6 crab...

Just bought 6 Es from live hermit crabs
My understanding is that if you ordered from livehermitcrabs.com then you have more than enough time to get full educated on their care

Re: Second level material?
I did a little more thinking, and I thought I would cover the egg crate in burlap (cover it like a pillowcase). I figure that would make a nice walking surface, and still let most of the heat through?

Second level material?
Greetings! I have been lurking on the forum for a few months, and have had a setup with PP's for about a month now. They seem to be settled in quite well, and I am getting ambitious and would like to add a second level to the tank on the warm side -- more floor space, and it will give them the optio...

New crabber, new crabs, first post!
I have been lurking on here for a couple of weeks, gathering knowledge (thank you everyone!) and supplies. I got the habitat set up on Saturday, and monitored it yesterday. Everything is looking good and stable. I stopped at the local Ma & Pa store after work today, and picked up 6 PP's (two for eac...
