I disagree with you. I feel at my age anything can happen and I want to make sure they are cared for. These are not a type of pet that everybody can take care and i simply want them to continue to have a great life.

I bought the Tupperware containers. I am hoping they will be up before we move! One has opened the molting window and I have found out from previous experience the molt is just about over. They have been down for 3 weeks now and they are on the smaller side. Thanks again for all your help!

I have med -large crabs and they stay down at LEAST 2/1/2 months! So hang in there and be patient as (I have to remind myself constantly lol !)
My newest crab went down the day I bought it and actually doubled it's size!

I think I will go with 4 of the mini uth to heat my new tank when I get it. The kind they say is safe for the kritter keepers. A glass tank is simply out of the question for me to try and lift. Thank -you all for all your help with this.

Have you checked your gauges for accuracy. Maybe they need calibrated. New crabs slould be left alone to acclimate to their new home. Could be the little guys were just sick to begin with. So sorry for your loss!

Thanks a bunch! I am a worry person. I have lightly smoothed over the sand and have not seen any traces that it came back up since last Tuesday.
just the fact that it DID come up and actually changed shells has me hoping it will be up soon permanently
