Re: UVB lighting and vitamin D

I have always been very curious as to why my crabs get so active when I take them outside. I take them to a safe, pesticide-free area in my backyard (the whole thing is pesticide-free) when I want to do photoshoots or just give them a novel experience. Every time I take them out, they'll take about ...

Re: Crabs won't get in water

I have a waterfall set up for mine and I never see them get in it, either. I see them drink from it - standing on the edge, but never see them submerge. I really wish they would!

Re: New reptile company for cholla & neat mosses

I was able to find this company's Facebook page with just a quick Google search. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link to it (per forum rules) or not, but I simply Googled Galapagos and reptile supply and it was one of the first results. I'm thinking I might try to recreate those moss hides, ...

Re: Cute picture of Crusty!

E's are my favorite type of hermit. Those big eyes are just too cute - how could you not love them?! And that's a seriously cute photo of him. I love how it really does look like he's staring off into the distance, thinking wistfully about ... who knows? His next meal, probably! -lol- The thought bu...

Re: Just a few pics of my PPs

Those are all such gorgeous photos, but I really like the third one. :) I just started an Instagram account for the same reason! -lol- All my friends and family are like, "I don't even know what you look like anymore because you never post photos of yourself. But I know what all of your animals look...

I now work at a pet store and we sell crabs. Input?

I recently got a job as an assistant manager at a large chain pet store here in the states (can't say which one), and have been there roughly 2 months. THE BAD PART: (there's good to come, I promise!)----------------------In that time I have seen COUNTLESS animals die due to neglect or ignorance - a...

Finally adding Es to my PP tank (?)

Two of the Es have changed shells several times already. One is in a gaudy spiderman shell and refuses to give it up. Maybe he's afraid to reveal his true identity. -lol-

Finally adding Es to my PP tank (?)

Welp, I had messaged someone on Craigslist a while back offering to adopt the hermits they had for sale if no one else took them (I refuse to PAY someone to neglect and abandon their hermits...) and they messaged me today saying please come get them! So I've adopted two more medium-ish PPs and ONE E...

Going to try again

Everything sounds right and the food is probably safe to eat but I doubt it's very fresh. They might not like it. I heat my tanks with overhead bulbs. I have two UVB bulbs and 2 heat emitting bulbs. The low end of the tank is about 75* and the hot end can get up to 90* right under the bulb in the br...

Finally adding Es to my PP tank (?)

Hi all!Been away for a while but everyone is doing great. I have 4 large PP crabs in a 55 gallon(The 55 gallon) I recently started working as a manager at a local pet store and we have Ecuadorian hermits. I've changed their setup to reflect a PROPER one as best I can while still following the corpor...
