Re: Rebuild and move of my 55g.

I got my E's from a petco in Mesquite Texas. I got 3 but only 2 survived. The one in the Pic is named Vinny. His "brother" is named Darrell Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk We got ours at the same Petco! I feel like we've probably established that before too, lol. We still have 3/4. I think it wa...

Rebuild and move of my 55g.

So. It's done. I managed to move not only my 40g fish tank but the 55g crab tank from one upstairs apartment to another upstairs apartment all in one weekend. I am exhausted and sore, but so very happy with how things turned out. The crabs were on the floor at the foot of my bed with miss matched sc...

Re: Tips for Instant Ocean storage?

I don't bag mine individuals, but I might start doing so. One thing I do differently though if I mix my salt water in a measuring cup then add to my jug and repeat till all the salt is added to the jug. I made a mess with our with out a funnel before.

Re: help! saving new rescue

Poor little crab! It's good she got to come home to a good home.

Good conditions, high energy foods and some peace are what she needs most of all.

What foods are you feeding her?

Re: Adopted Hermie... Not looking right

When I first started my pools were super narrow and if I put a ramp in it took all the space up. So I got a little crafty and I zip tied the mesh into a giant...Bobby pin. It went down flush on both sides of the pool and worked wonders. I will try and find a picture of it, but it may be a easy temp ...

Re: mass crab deaths

For the substrate you can take the EE that you have already and add normal PlaySand found at Walmart or Home Depot ect to it. In my opinion if you split your colony up into different tanks and stop with the Tropic Shells food that you will see some major improvement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Ditcher Streaker

Yup. I have one PP that every single time I have picked him up after his last molt will jump ship. I don't make a habit of picking up crabs, but I am still in a "build phase" with the 55g so every now and then anyone who is up gets removed while I fiddle around adding bubblers or new pots ect. All o...

Re: mass crab deaths

I am not familiar with Tropic Shells Crab Food. I did google them but I could not find a ingredient list for the food. Most commercially prepared food are flat out not good for crabs. Can you post the ingredients on your container or a photo of it?

mass crab deaths

Well. First and foremost, in my opinion, you have a serious over crowding problem.

Second. May I ask what your feeding? I know some crabbers have had mass deaths due food issues.

Can you share a photo of your tank?

Re: mass crab deaths

You had 56 crabs? In a 40g breeder? Is that correct?

Re: Adopted Hermie... Not looking right

I use plastic mesh found in the craft store to make a ramp. I also have some of the fake vines surrounding it lead a bit into the water.

Adopted Hermie... Not looking right

I am at a loss. I was originally was thinking that it was hardened calc sand that was encrusted onto him. This doesn't look like the other cases I have seen though. Maybe one of the others will have a better idea. Sorry. Edit: I would offer crushed cattle bone, ground shrimp and powdered cuttle bone...
