Re: Two Teeny Crabs Have Disappeared

mool, you cracked me up! I guess I'm not the only one who has a boring tank!! Little buggers! They were so darn adorable when we got them. When they come up we probably won't know it's them. I do have 3 bigger crabs that come up right before I go to bed. I have found that if I sneak up from the side...

Two Teeny Crabs Have Disappeared

I have been crabbing since last January & everything is going beautifully. We got 2 tiny crabs 7 weeks ago & haven't seen them since! I thought I read that tiny crabs will molt for a much shorter period of time, even a week or two. Should I be worried....because I am. I have been waiting patiently u...

Re: How Long in iso?

Good news, Red, the bully took a different shell in iso. I think I'll leave him in there for a few days. I have noticed that Spot has been coming up during the day to eat so I'd like to see her be comfortable again before Red goes back.

Re: How Long in iso?

Yes, Red has molted once with us. If Spot wasn't so terrified after each incident I wouldn't do anything but she was trying to go through the glass. It was awful to watch. 1. play sand with cocofiber, 5:1 2. yes, temp & humidity guages, both are always 82-89, it is at the warmer end of tank 3. yes, ...

How Long in iso?

I have a crab that has been aggressive with a newly molted crab. The bully is smaller than the victim, aka, Spot. Spot came up from her molt while we were out for the evening a couple nights ago. Spot & smaller crab, aka Red, were taking turns pinning each other down. We separated them & watched for...

Adding More Sand

My substrate has settled somewhat & it needs more. Is it safe to add my sand/cocofiber mix on top of the substrate that is already in my tank? I thought I read that I can if I do it in small amounts a little at a time. I have some crabs under & molting. 2 days ago I got 2 teenies. The rest are small...

Re: Tiny sized crabs

Ok, that is good to know. Can they climb to the upper level? I was thinking about putting a bowl of teeny shells on the lower level. Also, will cut the food into smaller pieces.

Thank you!! :D

Tiny sized crabs

Does anyone know if there is a thread here about care of tiny size crabs. I have searched & searched. Do I need to do things differently for the little ones? Can these little guys climb up to the shell shop & moss pit or should I have one on the lower level for them? Do I need to cut their foods int...

Re: Nightmare

I have only been crabbing for 7 months & this just breaks my heart for you!! I hope you don't mind if I ask a question also. Is it typical to find some dead crabs during a deep clean? I have 6 crabs & only have seen 4 of them for a very long time. I thought they were molting. Would there not be the ...

Re: Flowers

I won't be risking feeding them anymore of the flowers here. I just put in an order to Alaska hermit crab. I just hope I haven't harmed them in any way.

Thanks so much for the info. :D

Re: Flowers

Crabinski, good to know. Thank you so much. So basically, if we have grown them from seed ourselves or ordered dried organic flowers for them, that is the only safe way to feed flowers. I had been giving them an occasional petunia, impatience, & or daisy. Glad I haven't done too much. Off to read th...

Flowers

Is there a list of safe flowers that crabs can eat? I have read the safe food list & saw a few but are there anymore they can eat? Thank you.
