Re: Attaching hamster wheel

I have a silent spinner too, could electrical tape work to cover the metal and keep it from rusting?

Re: Live plants list

if you had a big enough freshwater pond, you could grow a big one in the water and use that as a ladder for them to climb out. I wonder how durable it would be though...[emoji848]

Cleaning new tank?

The new aquarium i bought online smells chemical-ey, almost like stale clothes or a laundry room. Will just water fix this?

can i use diluted bleach? or even just diluted soap? or would neither of these be crab-safe?

Re: Anyway to delay a molt?

The new tank doesn't have substrate yet, I am currently waiting for the finish on the table I made for it to dry. I don't want to set it up until the stand is ready because it might be too heavy ro lift. Would a large-ish plastic storage bin work for a temp tank? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using ...

Vermiculite and perlite safe?

I am planning on adding several live potted plants to my crabitat. To make sure the plants are crab-safe, I am going to grow them in a soil I make myself using peat moss, sand, cocofiber, and either vermiculite or perlite. All the other ingredients are safe, but I have no clue on these two. Thoughts...

Anyway to delay a molt?

Hi! I am going to set up a new, larger terrarium for my crab this week. However, she has been doing a lot of digging and munching on calcium lately. Is she about to molt? and if so, is there any way I can delay her until i move her to the new tank? The tank she is in is currently inhabited by cricke...

Re: Live plants list

Ive read multiple times that 3 months is the minimum amount of time it takes most plants to cycle out anything absorbed from old soil. You don't have to go through multiple generations of cuttings, just root a few cuttings in a pot of home-made soil (cocofiber mixed with things like sand to make it ...

Re: Live plants list

Only if they are uphill from your property or the tree is right on the border between your two properties. I'd ask them either way. if your yard tends tp flood when it rains hard then I'll bet its the low point where all the water flows down to.

Re: Live plants list

If you ID'd it correctly (I wouldn't blame you if you didn't, plant ID-ing is tricky), then the plant itself should be safe. Its in the plum family, and plums are safe, and i didnt find any mention of built-in insecticide. It also is susceptible to a lot of arthropod pests, so it probably isnt toxic...

Re: Live plants list

Send a close up pic of its branch and leaves. just a small twig will do, and make sure the leaf buds are visible.

Re: (Belatedly) Showing off my Upgrade ... and Seeking Sugg

maybe silicone the egg crate onto the inside of the buckets. then u wouldnt have any problems getting it back in, and they wouldn't run any risk of leaking. plus u could fill em up higher if u want. Just be sure to use aquarium safe stuff, and let it harden outside to avoid fumes! Sent from my SAMSU...

Re: Attaching hamster wheel

If it's too big depth wise, you can always shorten it with a jig saw. otherwise yeah maybe store it until ur crabs grow big enough to use it haha

Re: Attaching hamster wheel

Hmm... I'm assuming the green part spins inside the clear part. If you can remove the green part from the plastic part, you could drill holes in the clear plastic part and put zipties through them, the use them as "loops" to hook onto some command hooks. If the green part doesn't come off, then mayb...
