Re: Disturbed Buried Crab
Never mind. He's fine. Came out to eat an egg yolk and orange. Just found him in the fresh water. I'd post a ic, but I can't remember how.

Re: Jumbo lost legs and streaked repeatedly last fall - upda
In a separate post, I talked about finding him streaking several times before I put him in ISO. He buried a few weeks in ISO, didn't molt, and seemed stronger. I was having a hard time with temps maintaining two tanks, so when he seemed strong, I put him back in the main tank. After an immediate 3 m...

If the miss in the bag is dry, I'm sure it stays good.

Re: Algae in tank
What else could it be? It's green. Nothing stinks. It's heavier on the more humid side of the tank.Lewisthecrab wrote:Are you sure it's algae???

Re: Moss
I don't remove/replace mine. I just add fresh moss when needed for bulk. I soak it in diluted IO salt water the first time, then most with FW almost daily. My kids level is a huge help in keeping my humidity up. And the crabs tear it up every night.

Re: Algae in tank
Thanks. Just had to empty and move my tank in October. No flood or bacterial bloom. But my humidity stays pretty constant around 90%.

Algae in tank
I have algae growing against the glass on the back (warmest side) of my tank. Sub is 10-12" deep, and algae visible along most of it. Should I do anything? Churn it up? My crabs are all recently molted (except summer adoption who is up and running around nightly). The big guys have been tunneling li...

Re: Loooong Molt; Time To Investigate?
My largest crabs have gone as long as 8 or 9 months to molt. It's maddening, but there's nothing to be gained from digging him up.

Re: Extremely active and naked hermie!
I had a crab I've had for years just go through this after a molt. I had to reshell him repeatedly and keep him in ISO. After two months in ISO, he went down to molt (i hope). Lots of time, humidity, healing foods and dark. I only checked him every 2 days to change food and water after he stated in ...

Re: Help! I disturbed a jumbo pre- molt and broke off big cl
Any update? So far so good. He's been in ISO ever since. He eventually switched back to his original shell and was eating and drinking and digging around. He's now been buried for almost 2 weeks. Here's hoping for a successful molt and healthy crab to add back to the main tank in a few months. He's...

When to reintroduce crab to main tank.
On 10/12 I found my biggest crab naked with limbs broken off when scooping sand for a tank move. I've had him in iso since then. He had just completed a molt. No idea what went wrong. My tank conditions are great. Posted on emergency forum when it happened. On 10/18, after several days of rest and h...

Re: Help! I disturbed a jumbo pre- molt and broke off big cl
Update: Stripes has been in isolation in a 10 gallon since my last separate post update (streaking and other jumbos agitated near his shell in main tank). He switched back into his old shell and has stayed shelled, is eating and burrowing. Just got fun, we lost power for 3 days a week ago and I was ...

Re: Streaking again, lost several limbs
I have a spare 5 or 10 gallon for ISO, just have to set it up and get a heater. All the healing foods are in there. I have him in only 4-5 inches of sand/ee now, but keeping it covered with towels for darkness. Humidity is high and it's on top of the main tank for the heat right now. I hope I can pu...
