Re: What kind of shells are these?

I keep getting them with adoptees, and the former owners are, like, "they never change shells, but here, take them!" I have a little row of them on my bookshelf now. :| Yeah, I didn't think they would like them, but I wanted to double check, the opening looks a little too small, even on the largest...

Re: What kind of shells are these?

Those look like trochus. Not a preferred shell for purple pinchers, but often found on small crabs in the wild. Here's what the shell guide had to say about them. See if the picture matches your shells: http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=92552 Excerpt below: 8.) Tectus ...

What kind of shells are these?

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170505/022983655807439da18cbfe698f1f1ed.jpg I got a huge mixed back of turbos and oyster shells, but there was a fair few of these mixed in as well, I was wondering what kind they were, as well as if they were crab preferred or not. I'm leaning more towards not ba...

Re: 101 Gallon Exo Terra Crabitat Build w/ video

With the glass insert is the tat able to still get sufficient venting to prevent condensation on the walls? Those vents aren't actually blocked by the glass. There's a gap. I run a fogger in there often. Awesome! I want to do something similar to your build next years, one last question, do you hav...

Re: This is adorable!

Cute!!!!!! I love it when they pick these super big shells! It's amazing they can even move them! My littlest guy picked a super big shell too. :) Your crabbie's color is pretty pale (or it could just be the camera - difficult to capture color with a camera sometimes :) ). When I got my first two P...

Re: This is adorable!

I have had one that has picked out a huge shell before and you couldn't even see his pincher when he was curled up in it. It was adorable!

Re: crabitat evolution

I love your substrate!!! It is beautiful!!! :). Good depth, nice eco earth. I have a ten gallon, and it took me forever to get it deep enough while still having room for everything else. :D I too bought my crab and then had to figure out what in the world I was doing. :) Super kudos to you for all ...

Re: crabitat evolution

Great job on the upgrades! We love pictures here, one can never post too many pictures [emoji6] if possible, try to give them more things to climb - oak tree branch (free of pesticides/fertilizer) pop in freezer or oven to debug. For water bowls I would recommend double bowl Tupperware method/ & pu...

crabitat evolution

So, almost a month ago, my roommates and I randomly bought one hermit crab at a toy store in the mall. We literally knew nothing about hermit crab care, and it was a very spur of the moment decision, cue me reverting into what one of my roommates calls my 'helicopter pet mom' mode and doing a ton of...
