Re: best size Ultratherm to use for 40 gal tank and putting netting along back wall

I don't know brands, but there're ones that just turn the heat source on & off vs ones that actually modulate the intensity of the heat source, and the latter are better. (that said, I have a cheap on/off one cause I got it for free, lol.)

I agree with Aussie! Plus ultratherms are safe to use with a thermostat so if you find it gets too hot you can always do that.

Re: Found old Mopani wood in basement, how do I prep for tank?

soaking I saltwater is supposed to prevent mold. I usually do that & then stick the wood in the freezer for a couple days. though that takes longer than baking since you have to wait for the cold wet wood to come back to room temperature again!

Re: ECO earth or play sand??

Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk I would think that's ok! you could always try to mix it in with the top layer of sub so it isn't 100% EE. Probably fine...

Re: Cold Crabitat

I bought a smaller ultratherm for the side of my tank just incase it got too cold. I’ve actually been really surprised at how well my ultratherm heats my tank with the tank being on an outside wall. Maybe get a smaller ultratherm for the side of your tank and use it as you need it. Rod♡Salty♡Bob♡Sq...

Cold Crabitat

So I live in Chicago & the temps yesterday were in the negative 20s. The radiators haven't been on consistently & we've let maintenance know about that, but in the meantime the crabitat dropped to 70 degrees overnight. Is there a safe way I can add some kind of heater to the tat? Right now I'm using...
