Re: New Hermie Mom, would love advice

I think you are right that they may be preparing to molt! You don't have to separate them as long as they have enough space & deep enough substrate, which it sounds like they do as long as they are not huge crabs. if the tank's humidity is high enough and the substrate holds its shape (you can clear...

Re: My crab is only wearing a shell on his butt.

maybe try putting him in a shallow bath (just enough to cover his midsection) & put some shells near him & see if he is able to get out of the small shell once be soaks for awhile? hopefully someone more experienced will come along as that's all I can think of

Re: Feeding Schedule

I like that idea. I guess I dont need to do it exactly seafood vs land veggies? How much of each type do you freeze at a time? Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk I honestly just take produce I'm using for myself that either I have extra of or is about to go bad. so it depends how much I have...

Re: New Hermit Crab Owner: Crab in and out of Shell & Substrate

I agree it sounds like he wants to change shells. hopefully once the ones you ordered arrive he will pick out a new one & won't deshell anymore. make sure he'll have options that look a little too small and too big for him as well as around his size. the rest of his behavior sounds normal especially...

Re: Feeding Schedule

I don't use a schedule but I chop up produce & freeze it so I can always have a variety of fruits & veggies available for them. that might be helpful if you're trying to set up a routine, you can just grab from the freezer & alternate which kinds you give them based on the day. Re: Dead or dying crab

no luck. I would be so happy to handfeed him and help him recover but I haven't seen even a twitch of his antennae. I honestly think he's been dead the whole time but I'm not willing to give him a funeral until we know 100% so we will just be in limbo for awhile. not knowing sucks!! I'm just glad my...

Re: Dead or dying crab

All your tank conditions seem to be in check. I read many times from wodesorel that things that happened weeks or months ago to show up. For his ISO tank I would definitely add little substrate and some sort of hide as well. Maybe even add a little damp moss near him. It would give him some moistur...

Re: Dead or dying crab

I am so sorry you are going through this. Do you have any calcium for them like cuttlebone, eggshells, or a calcium mix? My guys love the calcium mix from EarthWaterFireStudio, I have a lot of her stuff too, my crew really seems to favor her stuff. I hope he pulls through for you, we’re sending you...

Dead or dying crab

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? sand/EE about 8in 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read? AcuRite room monitor w/ probe, 80-90% and warm end of tank...

Re: molting concern plz help now!

if you don't have a separate container to iso the molter in you can cut the top off a liter soda bottle and place it over him. Just leave some water and food in there with him.
