Re: Molter Death Rate

how about the netting above the drainage layer. could crab get caught in them when they dig down? reading the molting care sheet, it says they tend to dig all the way down to the bottom...

Re: Molter Death Rate

so sorry to hear your molting trouble. I've always loved your tank setup! I'm new to crabbing so i won't be able to share any experience. But i would love to learn since if a great tank like yours can't keep them happy then it is something we should all learn from. are the PPs you lost old timers or...

Re: My tank, some crab pics, bonus cats and lizard!

@aprilmay They do use the arched one in the front! I have a viola who frequents it every evening. :) That's great to know! I have a long Cholla runs half the tank length and it is pretty exposed. I've always wondered whether i should put some fake plant on top to give it some cover. but then it mak...

Re: My tank, some crab pics, bonus cats and lizard!

so puuurrretty! Love all the wood structure! Do your crabs ever climb the arched wood piece in the front? i wonder if they will be afraid of it being too exposed? also which of your four moss pits do they prefer? the front left corner one? noticed you added two cocohut next to the pools. do you find...

Re: Artemis, Day 14 carrying eggs

What you are trying to do is very very hard! there are so little data out there. You still have 4 survivors! that's like a miracle already! don't beat yourself up! The best we could all hope get out of this trial is more data for the future trials. It is okay! think how far they've come from being d...

Re: What are your crabs up to?

mid last week i noticed water level of both my pools dropped by an inch! i was puzzled! how did the evaporation turned so rapid? it hasn't been that warm lately either. Both my pools are square glass jars so leaking is unlikely. when i took the pools out for water change yesterday i noticed there we...

Re: What's on today's menu & recipe sharing

Friday a co-worker had crayfish for lunch, and i took a piece from her thrown away pile. Watermelon had a feast! :) When i saw him started dragging the crayfish i thought he wanted to drag it to a hidden place to eat. but turned out he just wanted to get to the meaty parts inside the shell. https://...

Re: What are your crabs up to?

lol I have a crab that does this too. Sometimes he somehow manages to make it on top of the wheel for a few triumphant seconds defore being flung off :hlol: hahaha, exactly! they are such expert climbers! it looks like they totally love a challenge, any hard to climb surface will pique their intere...

Re: Tank size

a crab comes out of a molt will be very sandy, so he will track sand everywhere: water pool, food dish. that's how we found out when our first crab came up after a 5 weeks molt. but it will only work if you have only one molter in the tank.

Re: What are your crabs up to?

Hilarious!! :hlol: Silly crab!! I know! Right? i'm just glad the wheel are getting good use finally! Watermelon occasionally does walk inside of the wheel the normal way. but maybe because he is so small, the wheel often stays still until he climbs to the highest point then it would do this really ...
