Re: Streaking, lethargy- possible pre-molt issue?

Hi, I’m positive the humidity is correct. I’ve recently calibrated my hydrometers too. I’ve never had issues keeping the humidity within range with my modified lid. I’ve done everything possible to ensure she pulls through, but it doesn’t look like it was enough [emoji17] I strongly believe she did ...

Initially yes, and then I moved her back to the main tank since she’s the only crab, and in the case she might dig to molt or need the water pools

Streaking, lethargy- possible pre-molt issue?

I placed her on the food dish yesterday in hopes it might encourage her to eat (she hasn’t budged) but happened to notice something looks really off about her joints, it’s almost like the exo has chipped away a little on each leg..here’s a picture..Could this be a part of the issue or am I seeing th...

Re: Streaking, lethargy- possible pre-molt issue?

Hi GB, thank you for the reply.. When I reshelled her, I did not see a molt sac. I do provide calcium at all times in the tank- both cuttlebone and urchin skeleton, and include a form of calcium in the food dish. I'm quite concerned that she might be too weak to successfully molt- I'm not sure how s...

Streaking, lethargy- possible pre-molt issue?

Hi! I know it’s been a long time since I’ve been on here- my only crab has been doing very well, until yesterday when we ran into trouble. Here are the details: Since you've come to the emergency forum, we know you want a fast answer to your question. In order for us to figure out the problem as qui...

Re: Mushrooms in the tank??

I'm sorry, I'm a little late to the party! Yeah, this is what mushrooms do. It'll be mushpocalypse for a few weeks and you'll think your tank is under attack. I promise, it will eventually just disappear! Let that area dry a little bit, and keep pulling the fruiting bodies as they pop up. It wants ...

Re: Mushrooms in the tank??

Hi Wode, thanks for the reply! Sooo, now things have appeared to have gotten worse...it looks like they are springing up everywhere in the tank now!! I can see a few through the glass, and they're growing relatively deep in the sub. There's at least 9 growing near the glass all throughout the tank. ...

Mushrooms in the tank??

This is the second time I've come across something like this in the tat. At first I didn't worry too much about it because I assumed a crab buried food, so it was mold growth due to the humidity. Now coming across this for a second time, I'm getting a better look at what's growing underneath my wate...

Re: Moldy Hammock

I hate to beat a dead horse about the mold... but I have more questions. The moldy hammock got moldier- until today I noticed that there is barely any mold left on it at all. I’ve also noticed my crabs are seemingly not eating anything that I try to feed them (fresh and organic fruits, veggies, gra...

Re: Grapewood and bugs

Interesting! Next time I see them, I'll see if they're mites or springtails.

I forget what shape they were..I don't think they were shiny though. Can they just come out of nowhere?

Grapewood and bugs

I've had my grapewood vine in my tank for sometime now, and it's been doing fairly well in terms of how much mold grows on it- it comes, dies off- comes again, etc. but the growth really never gets out of control. While doing tank maintenance today I noticed these little tiny bugs crawling around on...

Re: Moldy Hammock

Well, I tried boiling it in saltwater and completely drying it out before putting it back in but the mold is back so I’m surrendering to it- if I don’t replace it right away it’s okay for them? I know I’ve read that it isn’t harmful to crabs but it still freaks me out [emoji58] if they are crawling...

Re: Moldy Hammock

I've never had luck with hammocks like that either. Since my tank usually is over 90% humidity, I always had mold growth and could never get rid of it- no matter what I tried. I ended up resorting to trying out another climbing structure-a grapewood vine. I've had more luck with it in terms of how m...
