Re: Substrate

We use less EE and more sand. We've had flooding and bacterial blooms. We lost 2 crabbies as a result

Re: New Hermit crab owner

Ultratherm and Flukers can be insulated. Zoo Med and other types can't be. We get our ultratherms from The Bean Farm. The shipping is super fast! We have been very happy with them and they work great.

Re: New Hermit crab owner

We use tight fitting glass lids. Heat lamps dry everything out. We use ultratherm heaters on the back of our tanks. Unless you seal up the screen lid, the heat and humidity will not stay.

Re: Dead crab?

It's been 6 days and the crab hasn't moved at all. Still no smell. I don't know what to think? Any ideas?

Re: Fighting

Dip the other shells in salt water. It attracts the crabs to them.

Re: Dead crab?

I thought it was post pet store trauma, but I don't know what to think now. I don't know what to do. I'll let him sit til he smells bad, I guess. Backstory, I saw him in that tank for over a month. No food, water, 1/4" dry EE and screen lid. I couldn't take it anymore and had to have him. They said ...

Dead crab?

The local pet store gave me a free crab on Saturday, 3 days ago. It hasn't moved in the slightest bit. It doesn't smell. It's tightly in its shell. When I dipped it in salt water, no movement. Can a crab be dead in it's shell and not smell? I mean seriously, no movement at all. I lightly petted it c...

Let it go. Check out the adoption page on here if you'd like to add to your crabby family. I understand how you feel!

Re: Decor

Thanks! I have a green thumb, but never have live plants in a crabitat. I tried sunflowers and chia, but they died without being eaten. I thought they liked to eat sprouts, but mine don't

Re: how do i tell if my crab is ready to molt but hasn’t started

Crabbies gonna do what crabbies gonna do! And they won't let us know! They are the ultimate wild unknown, and here we are trying to do our best to keep them happy! Crabbers are a breed of our own! We love them and they don't care about us! We enjoy keeping them happy and healthy and they don't care!...

Re: Decor

If they were to be eaten, seeing that crabbies eat just about anything, would they be harmful or poison?
