Re: New to forums!!

Right, we all do something different. Nothing is 100% known. All we do is try our best to figure crabbies out! Everything is suggestions and our own experiences.

Re: New to forums!!

I would personally dip them all, therefore every one smells the same.

Re: New to forums!!

Have you dipped the new crabs in salt water before adding putting them all together? Our thoughts are if all crabs smell the same, maybe there won't be such aggression. We do a lot of adopting and rescuing of crabbies and we always dip them in salt water. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just...

Re: Newbie Crabitat

Looks good. The crabbies need the waters to be deep enough to fully submerge. They have modified gills and need to be able to submerge. Do you use dechlorinated waters? We use Prime. The instant ocean is great for the salt water (also dechlorinated).

Re: Tank cover and humidity

How big is your tank? Where do you have the UTH placed? Need more info. Do you have dechlorinated fresh water and dechlorinated salt water (instant ocean, for example)?

I agree. The 29. They need adequate ground space for molting.

Re: Supplies Wants/Needs

Suggestions: don't go cheap with the Prime. It's good and it works, plus it will last a long time. 2 drops for 1 gallon of water. For decorating, we use hemp & jute threads. You can weave and braid whatever you want! No need to crochet or knit (idk how to do either). Plastic craft mesh and zip ties!...

Re: Escaped Crab

I put weights on my lids! Soup cans, small pottery and such because some of my big girls are big and I could see them trying to escape! I'm glad your crabby is ok.

Re: Escaped Crab

Maybe give him some bee pollen to help any damages that may be there that you can't see. It sounds like you are handling it well. That must have been scary!

Re: New Crab Mom

It can weeks to months. Don't go digging. Leave him alone. They are fragile. Maintenance on heat and humidity is difficult in a 10 gallon tank. Plus, don't worry. We have 30 crabs and getting at least 9 more. We have 6 tanks. They live on their own time. They will take as long as they need. In the m...
