Re: What went wrong?

Also, does this look like the same crab to you? I just realized a third crab switched into this same shell yesterday so maybe this was not the one who molted a few days ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Once they start switching shells there's no telling them apart. Unless you only have 2 or ...

Algea

I thought algea was a sign of a healthy tank. But I saw this on facebook. Is it true? Because both my tanks have algea.Image

Re: 10 gal crab tank

I saw that type of branch one day, and maybe it was a diff brand but the same thing, but it was really pricey! I’m talking the small one at my PetSmart was something crazy like $20+!! I had the lady take it off, but I also thought it would be a great addition! So, moral is, I’m going to watch for a...

The crabs and the sand will scratch the heck out of it.
But the sand would only scratch where the substrate is right?

Re: Silly Crabs

I find that fallen tree branches, and found rocks make excellent cheap things to climb as long as you clean them first. Although I will have to say mine like the netted wall I put in as well. You would have to be certain that any fallen tree branch hasn't been sprayed with pesticide and is on the s...

Re: Soon to be Hermit Mom with some Newbie Questions

Ok thank you all so much for the helpful information! I tend to be obsessive & am very particular when taking care of my pets. Lol ok I was thinking the plexi/mesh combo would be good for that very reason. Do y'all have lights that you would recommend that have both bulbs in the same unit so I don'...

Re: Soon to be Hermit Mom with some Newbie Questions

Welcome! You've done great research. Here are some answers. 1- mix the sand/ee with either dechlorinated fresh or salt water before putting in the tank. To sandcastle consistancy. If it drips when squeezed it's too wet. Just add more sand. Misting tends to lead to flooding. 2- I have plexi glass lid...

Re: How to clean with crabs in the sand

Welcome! No digging unless there's a bacterial bloom or flooding. Just spot cleaning of old food needed. And mold doesn't bother crabs. It's only a problem if you're allergic to mold.

Re: Crabs Not Moving

Do you have a specific heater that you recommend? The reason I chose a lamp was cause I couldn't find a heater with good reviews. Ultratherm from beanfarm.com and reptilebasics.com. Get a size that fits the entire back from the top of the substrate 6" deep) to top of tank. These can also be insulat...

Re: Crabs Not Moving

I know it's tempting to move your crabs when they seem to stay in one spot but that only stresses them out. Fill out the template mentioned above.
