Re: New crabber

The substrate was quite damp and i think that was the reason for the humidity. It's going down now that the substrate is drying out. It is a mesh lid. I was going to look into trying to seal up some of the mesh. Sent from my SM-G970W using Tapatalk You can completely seal the lid. They will get oxy...

My tank is 80⁰F and 80% humidity. It is a screen lid on the tank. The sand came with the tank. It was a starter kit that had the sand and cocofiber in it. I have lots of fiber left to mix and add to it. I use bottled dechlorinated water and i have aquarium salt that i mix. I hope i didnt miss any o...

Check out the safe food list. They can eat any meat, raw or cooked, just no seasonings. Shrimp. Freezedried crickets. They eat such tiny amounts sometimes it's hard to tell they ate at all. They can eat eggs. Raw, hardboiled, scrambled. They love egg shells and it's great calcium. Many of us leave a...

Re: New crabs !

How long do hermit crabs molt for? I’ve got a crab (bashful) that I haven’t seen since Tuesday night. My larger one (Happy) hides under sand/ under plants/hide during day and spends pretty much entire night on food dish. Has dug down under the sub last week but didn’t molt. How soon after molting d...

They like to tunnel. How deep is your substrate?

Re: molting under water dish

They tunnel through the substrate. He could be all the way on the other side of the tank.

Re: New to HCA

It looks great. Is that a humidifier? If so I don't know why your humidity would be so low. Is your screen sealed? It doesn't look sealed. It needs to be completely sealed. With either saran wrap taped down, plexi glass from hobby store taped down or switch to a glass lid. And lights zap humidity. T...

Re: Can a rescued cannibal crab be "rehabilitated"?

I figured I would update you guys on how she's doing. (Didn't feel like making a new category for it.) She buried herself in late December and resurfaced in February. She had her first successful molt! She grew lots of hair, and she's getting along with the others WAAAAAAYYY better than I expected!...

Yes I tend to agree, might hold off for now

But what do you think about moving the whole tank to a quieter space in the house? Currently in a very and noises area?
Moving a tank with any crabs underneath can collapse their caves and tunnels and they will suffocate.

Re: Haven’t seen my hermit crab in 5 months....

How deep is your substrate? Is it sandcastle consistency? But you see the others, right? Maybe he is coming up. Do you have cameras in your tank?
