Re: Hamster wheel won't turn? I have a pic of it, any ideas.

Like Motörcrab said I don’t think you need to worry about them falling off. I didn’t even have a wheel and they kept climbing to the top of their plastic trees and second level moss pit and they’d just fall. I figure they wouldn’t keep doing it if it really hurt them. But they’d just crawl back up a...

Re: Hamster wheel won't turn? I have a pic of it, any ideas.

what are some other toys i can get them? all i see is wheels, but i know they like other stuff... I made this teeter totter (right side). They haven’t really teeter tottered it together but they usually climb up the support in the middle then crawl one way and it then goes down because of weight. T...

I can’t see the wheel stand in the picture, I’m not sure if it’s the angle like others have said. Is it pushed too far into the sand? Here is mine when it was new. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190316/2ae4403a6b1bbf3978c9c3213039570a.jpg Rod♡Salty♡Bob♡Squirt♡Crabina »-♡-> Our Purple Pinchers <...

Re: Crabitat 2.0 (from a 20 gal to a 50 gal)

That is beautiful!!! You did a great job!!! They have so much to explore that it might take them some time to find the wheel :) Give it time!! :) Thanks! I think it will. They’ve only been going to the water to the food then back to their moss pit. Someday they’ll get there! Sent from my iPhone usi...

Hey Xenocrab, I used zip ties to secure the mesh down. Here are 2 pics. My crabs haven’t gone into their wheel yet, but the one time I placed my bigger one in there, he crawled almost upside down and the wheel didn’t turn. But I know that the wheel turns and it’s not that. I just think they haven’t tried hard enough to make it move.

Re: Humidity Low in Larger Tank

So I had a large piece of glass here that I cut in two for each side of my 50. Taped the edges so they wouldn’t cut me and also made little hinges out of the masking tape. So far after wetting my moss yesterday my humidity is at 82%. I’m happy with that if it stays around there. I think the crabs wi...

Re: Humidity Low in Larger Tank

I wet my moss pit last night and this morning my humidity is up to 81%. Gonna replace the plexi with glass today so we’ll see how that goes. But overnight my plexi didn’t warp, so I’m also factoring that into the bump in humidity. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190312/38678f8556995b8df2862fce9ba...

Re: Humidity Low in Larger Tank

I have a large piece of glass here that if I cut in half will fit both sides perfectly. I’m gonna head to Ace in the AM to buy a glass cutter. I’m hoping that will help. My temps are reading mid-70s for humidity and high 70s to low 80s for temp. I did dampen the moss tonight too. Although, my crabs ...

Re: Humidity / lid question

This is funny because I have a separate thread going as this about the same thing. My problem with plexi is mine right now really says in the middle creating a gap. I mean the humidity bends the sides so it says in the center. This is the reason I want to go the glass route. I also have to work arou...

Re: Humidity / lid question

A glass canopy lid would be a good permanent solution. I have one on my tank and I love it, it really holds the heat and humidity well. If you search online for “aquarium glass canopy lid” and measure your tank, you should be able to find one. I got mine at a local pet store for $25. You don’t need...

Re: Humidity Low in Larger Tank

Maybe when you replace your plexi, get it to cover your whole tank with no gaps. My glass canopy lid covers the whole tank snuggly and my humidity never drops below 80*. It still fluctuates with the weather and if I open it, it can drop but having the whole lid covered really helps me. I have a spl...

Re: Humidity Low in Larger Tank

I second this. I'm only working with a 10 gallon aquarium & initially had problems keeping the humidity up. I had a small part of the screen lid not covered with plastic wrap. I thought it was no biggie and the air flow would probably be good/keep me aware of any stinkiness. Opted to cover it up to...
