Re: Human Heating Pad For Tank

Im researching if its possible to use a human heating pad on a glass tank. Any ideas? not long term, I believe. Mainly because it can be a fire hazard if left on for long periods of time. Not to mention, they can't be insulated or anything for the same reason. But they can work short term i think. ...

sorry to interupt and sound worse case but could the crab have been killed by the others pinching off its abdomen?
Maybe? I'm not sure, but either way a crab exo would be hollow too! If there's meat in the body then that could very will be a dead crab :(

Re: Ants in the tank with 3 underground

Ok so everyone ended up fine but my molters leg didn’t seem to grow back normal :( one seems like the tip is grown in backwards and another has a curl on the end of it. She has been up eating and walking around so is it safe to add her back into the main tank or should I wait until she has another ...

Re: Crabitat Temp too low

I got my crabitat set up yesterday and am dealing with Temp issues. I keep my house 61°-65° in the winter and it's making it hard to keep my 10 gallon tank temp up. I have a fish tank top and tape over the feeding holes except a small hole in the back for air. I have an 8 watt uth(rated for 10-20 g...

Re: Naked crab. Help!!

I may be wrong and I'm a relative newbie to the crabbies but this one is bathing himself. Trying to get into a shell. Nibbling coconut and honey.. I think all of this is instinctive and apart from a, she'll he acting as he does, after a molt. Does that make sense? 🤔 I get what you mean. For now jus...

Re: Naked crab. Help!!

Further... SP is equadorian crab. (always been quite pale in colour). I've had him for 11 months. He's had two molts in this time. His most recent shell size is 5.25cms. He's always been an active crab. He doesn't seen unwell as such but maybe injured. This is what I think.. X Looks like you're doi...

Re: Naked crab. Help!!

I wonder what keeps scaring him enough to make him come out of his shell. AussieJJ or wodesorel, would one of you know? Could the one crab be bothering him and he keeps giving his shell to the other? Usually when a crab leaves a shell its because of a shell jacking or he is too weak to carry the sh...

Re: Weird Spikey Mold

Hello all, this is less a call for help but more of a curiosity. Recently I added a seagrass hammock to the crabitat to give our crabs something new to climb on (a few of them had the habit of inverting themselves on the metal mesh roof of the tank and getting stuck there). It was a big hit, like a...

Re: Is the substrate ratio okay?

Depth is way more important than the ratio!! If it's a good height for them to molt safely, I would not worry about adding anything more to it. Since it does have more EE, just watch how much water and moisture you're adding to the tank, as EE gets oversaturated easily. That's pretty much the only ...

Is the substrate ratio okay?

My last post focusing on substrate was the worry of the weight in the 100 gal tank due to living in a trailer house. I ended up having to do a lot more EE than sand since it is much lighter. I have approximately 6 inches of sub all around. I used 2 bags of sand and the rest is EE, at least 4 bricks,...

That's awesome! How are the hermies enjoying their new home? I bet you'll have fun finding all kinds of extra goodies to put in there since there's so much room. [emoji16] Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk They're really liking it! I think they're having fun exploring the tank. I know Dwe...

Here's some pictures of the new tank! Its not much, but I'll be looking for more stuff to decorate with no doubt! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191015/9d241ccb60f255b607d4913ad0c13844.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191015/b5b2115eaee4dab852d0f0d09e6cda11.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn...
