Re: Hermit Crab Ornament

We hit the mother load of crab ornaments on Saturday! There is this Christmas store near us that has like 80,000 ornaments. They have everything! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191118/3f6c84335e17530ae5333d111992043c.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191118/2eb67a48ea4a76f0d6cde2630aa3de27...

Re: New to the hermie world

It's very addictive! I thought I'd be fine with the first four I took home last year... but that was not the case and still isn't, which is why I just upgraded to a 75g. Good luck with yours, and I definitely agree with the others. Have both set up and the new one ready, that way when anyone surface...

Re: Recommendations from other groups?

I agree with others here regarding the strictness of some groups. I'm a member here and part of one Facebook group that I don't typically take part in due to its strictness. But I enjoy seeing pictures and videos of other people's hermits, so I stick around. I've always used this place as my main re...

Re: My rescued crab

Hermit crabs suffer through a lot before being sold. They typically live in poor conditions with no humidity and little heat. So I'm sure they will jump right back with no issues. :) I do want to say, though... I can't believe there are shops that do that! They actually dump their crabs when it's of...

Thanks! There is some silicone where the crabs could eat it. Do you think I should cut that off?

Maybe to be on the safe side. After it's all dried and cured, you should be good to trim any excess.

Re: Safe silicone?

Looks good, I think. From my knowledge, any silicone that is all-in-all 100% silicone and nothing else is safe for use. No added chemicals or anything. I personally use Marineland's Aquarium Silicone, but that was just a preference for me since I work at a pet store so have easy access and a discoun...

Re: Crab escaped, found empty shell...

This story is the thing of my nightmares. I had an escape artist as well, who got out three times in less than a month, with the lid weighted down and all. This was over the spring/summer and after the last time where she was missing for a week, I plopped her back in and just let her do her thing. S...

Very cute! I love comparing mine to old pictures. It's amazing when you realize just how much and quickly they grow.
