Re: Colour Change in Isopods?
It could be color morphs (not uncommon in isopods) or just one that shed it's skin recently.

Re: I can’t find Tiny!
Probably buried himself. I have 5 in a 65 gallon and sometimes I can't even find the larger ones' burrows! As long as your sure that the tank is escape-proof then I wouldn't worry

Re:
Crabs drop their shells when to weak to carry them, probably something wrong in the setup. I'd fill out an emergency fourm as this could be serious.

They mostly toe dip, but I've seen a few go swimming.blackberry75 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 11:33 pmNice! Kinda jealous of those pools. Do the crabs fully submerge or just toe dip?

New tank set-up! How's it look?
Just showing off my new tank setup. The huge heat lamps and mesh net kinda make the tank look small so for size reference, its 3' x 2.3' x 1.5.

Re: Surface Molter & week from heck
Thank you for your feedback! Should I add more of the sand substrate now, including on top of Joe, to get it up to 3-4 inches or wait? Some parts of the sand have dried out so it is not all sandcastle consistency - I will work on that. I'd wait to add more substrate until everyone is done molting s...

Re: Substrate stinks (Possible bacteria bloom?) Might need to dig up some molters, advice welcome, haven't done this bef
Great news! I dug everyone up last night and got rid of the bad substrate. Only two were actually still molting, the others were finished. I just divided up my 20 gallon as an isolation tank for them and put the rest back in the original tank. I underestimated the amount of sand I'd need so for now ...

Re: Substrate stinks (Possible bacteria bloom?) Might need to dig up some molters, advice welcome, haven't done this bef
I got two 20 pound bags and five blocks of eco earth, I also have some repisoil that I thought mix in if I didn't have enough. I'm just dreading digging up the crabs scene from their size and how long they've been down it's likely their all in the middle of the molt. I've also got a ton of spare tan...

Re: Substrate stinks (Possible bacteria bloom?) Might need to dig up some molters, advice welcome, haven't done this bef
If you are using an automatic mister regularly, then it likely flooded the ecoearth. Cocofiber needs to be kept fairly dry and fluffy, or else it rots. Misters do not normally work properly to keep up humidity in crabitats unfortunately, they aren't designed for the giant mass of substrate and what...

Aw your little tank is so cute. I really like how you used the old fish bowl as the pool and your crabs are soooo tiny <3. I wish mine stayed hat small forever.

How long does it take for jumbos to molt?
I had a extra large -pretty much jumbo at this point- crab (blueberry if that matters) go down to molt in mid-october and I'm just wondering how much longer it will be. I've heard people say there's molted for 8 or 9 months but is that a realistic expectation or just a randomly long molt? I'm basica...

Re: Good idea/bad idea?
I'm not sure that the fish would be your problem. I do think the water temperature is to low but it could work if that was changed (the fish you have wouldn't mind if it didn't happen all at once and only up to like 75F). Additionally, the crabs need an easy way in and out of the water, as they aren...
