I would suggest just letting him be and not giving him any more changes to manage. If he absolutely needs fresh substrate perhaps you could just scoop out the dirty bits and add an inch of clean substrate

Re: Commercial Pellet
Oh! I like the idea of sprinkling it with powdered nutrients. I've ordered some and will try it!

Re: Commercial Pellet
Thank you! I'll work on weaning them off the pellets. That's how I figured out that was all they were eating. I put a tiny bit of pellet food in the center of the selection and it was gone the next day. Everything else looked untouched.

Commercial Pellet
I've been feeding my PP crabs fresh and dried food: shrimp, fish, chicken, peanut butter, watermelon, mango, dried pineapple, dried cherries, zucchini, broccoli, coconut, and coconut oil, just for an example. However, the only thing they seem to eat is commercial pellet food I received for free when...

A hole?
I am still new to crabbing. Two out of three of my crabs buried to moult several weeks ago. Today I have this (see picture) a hole! What does it mean? My crab that never buried is still the only one I can find. Thoughts? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200803/575e29feccddddcf6a6a177e72bb6e32.jpg ...

What is Your Crab Story?
I am learning so much from this site. Thank you! I wanted to share about my crabbies with others who would understand my excitement. I got a couple of crabs from the pet store. They were in a tiny, plastic container with fresh food and a water dish with a sponge and an inch of dust. At first glance ...

Dinner Time for Crabbies!
Hermit crab dinner! Clockwise from left: blackberries & raspberries, coconut w/oil, peanut butter, salmon & trout wet cat food, tuna, and zucchini, all sprinkled with dried daphnia. I'm still learning what mine like. I have found peanut butter gets eaten, but I'm not sure what else is preferred. [em...
