Re: Long Overdue Pictures

I don't have the setup for raising hermit crab babies. I've had females of various species with eggs over the years but I never try to raise them.

Re: Long Overdue Pictures

Your straw makes me want to cry because of how GORGEOUS he/she is! Holy cow! I want an exotic sooooo bad but I live in Texas and all the research I've been doing on where to get a blueberry or a viola, even an indo hasnt gone so great. I have two straws and both are females. The one pictured here i...

Re: Long Overdue Pictures

Hmm; this sounds like my usual aussie behaviour... Wonder if it is an aussie thing? Having had just one aussie for so long, I've always wondered if her behavior was typical for the species. I've had the four new aussies for about two months now and they all do seem very similar to Darwin in most wa...

Re: Long Overdue Pictures

Wow; your aussies look better than mine - not to mention the tank it's self! I'm so happy that you got Darwin some species buddies; how she enjoying the company? The new aussies now look much better than I ever expected. They were in pretty rough shape with some damaged and missing limbs when I got...

Re: Long Overdue Pictures

Just realized I meant to post an updated picture of the crabitat in the this thread but forgot about it. Here's one from today plus some more Aussie cuteness. 101-ish gallon terrarium crabitat http://i62.tinypic.com/wamvsx.jpg Darwin trying to quickly back out of the photo http://i58.tinypic.com/2rw...

Re: Long Overdue Pictures

Love the "Parent Trap" pic -- just like looking in a mirror  ! The Aussies are simply beautiful, the best pics I've ever seen of the species. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I'll have more pictures to post of the Aussies in the future. Right now I'm trying not to stress out the four new Aussies ...

TheHermitCrabber wrote:Awesome pictures! Where do you get you exotics? :D
Some of the exotics I've had for a very long time and others are more recent additions. I've gotten them from Hermit Crab Vendor, Live Hermit Crabs, Exotic Land Hermit Crabs, adoptions, and local chain stores.

Long Overdue Pictures

I always seem to go way too long between posting pictures of my crabs here. I have a ton of newer photos, so I'm just going to post some of my favorites. Re: cross species guarding?

Well, I don't know if there would actually be any babies as a result of crossbreeding, but different species will definitely mate with one another. I've got a pack of purple pinchers after my female indo right now. For crab mating in general, I generally just leave them to it unless the female doesn...

Re: Where to Buy Nets so my crabbies can climb on it?

Michaels/Hobby Lobby type craft stores in the beachy decor area. It comes in big pieces folded up in a bag. Take it out and run it through your washing machine at least once in hot water with no soap. Hang it to dry. Cut the large net to the size needed.

Re: I dont think they like the ZooMed Fogger

I have that fogger and love it. I position it so the nozzle is right above my moss pit to avoid the possibility of oversaturating the substrate. Some of my crabs really enjoy the mist and others don't. Most will move away when the fog first comes but then go back to it and sit in the mist and groom ...

Re: Mice

Calla- I didn't know mice weighed so much. I think of them as being very tiny compared to my sugar gliders but one of my gliders is barely over 100 grams. When I got him as a joey he was about 50 grams. I love seeing the photos of your mice. I'm about 99% decided that I won't get more gliders after ...

Re: crabs lethargic and hiding, or just growing?

Wow, those tree trunks are awesome! What are they? All the wood in my current crabitat is cork. Once I move and find out if Trundle is still alive down there I'll definitely consider getting more if the space is okay. Assuming they all survive into jumbohood, how many is reasonable in a 55g? I don'...
