Re: Is this a good layout for PVC pieces for a false bottom?

Keep in mind that substrate can still become oversaturated with bacterial blooms happening in the middle of the mass, even when suspended with a false bottom. It's a tool, but it is not a cure!

Re: Fruit jelly question

Leopard geckos eat insects exclusively. They do not and can not eat fruits or veggies or anything else!

Re: Are coconut and strawberries must-haves?

Depending on how severe the coconut allergies are, you may also need to avoid cocofiber, eco-earth, coco husk, plantation soil, bed-a-beast, hermit crab soil, etc. All of these are ground up coconut husk! Funny, I cannot use any of the bedding products because of allergies, but have zero issues with...

Re: Water for substrate

The harmful stuff in tap water does not last long once mixed with eco-earth, and will eventually evaporate away. No need to redo anything!

also i looked at the guideline and since i have a lot of room on a second level my tank is not very overcrowded :)
Second levels don't count. Only molting space matters, since that is where the problems happen when overcrowding.

Re: Cheap but good under tank heater!!!!!

Ultratherms are only sold by The Bean Farm and Reptile Basics. One of those two also lists them on Amazon I never remember which. I have ordered from both companies before. Waiting on another delivery from Reptile Basics next week, actually. Flukers can be found at online pet stores. I think the com...

Re: Cheap but good under tank heater!!!!!

Ultratherm and Flukers are great brands, and purchasing online can save money over buying in store. I needed more Flukers and am waiting on my order to come in, saved $10 each by ordering online.

No difference, it's just that some foods are more commonly found one way or the other.

Re: inexpensive food?

The big thing is offering at a protein and a fruit on a daily basis, and try not to give them the same thing twice in a row as they are hardwired to seek out different foods. Veggies can be offered occasionally but they don't usually like them. Cellulose (wood, leaves) doesn't go bad and can be kept...

Re: inexpensive food?

You can feed them entirely from your own meals! Please don't fall for having to buy them special food. I used to sell in my own store and it always felt so much like a scam, buying in bulk for pennies and then selling for dollars. If you wanted to get them something special, the pet store has the be...

They seem to be harmless, but I always remove them. They tend to spread if allowed to set spores!
