Re: (Belatedly) Showing off my Upgrade ... and Seeking Sugg

I hope you post lots of pictures when it's all set. Definately! I have another question. I do have a background, one of those from a petstore, laminate. Would I be able to tape it to the inside of the tank? Since I have to stick the uth directly to the glass. I don't want to stick them on the paper...

Re: (Belatedly) Showing off my Upgrade ... and Seeking Sugg

I don't think it would frustrate them. I think they just kind of see the world is climbable or not climbable, and that's that. You could always hang some fish netting or other climbable material. I do that on the side walls to increase climbable surface area for them and give them more space.

Re: (Belatedly) Showing off my Upgrade ... and Seeking Sugg
Wow. That's why they're so expensive.
Yeah. I splurged on the tank and the backdrop. The rest was rather inexpensive. And they're all purple pinchers. I've had some of them for about 8 years now, but the biggest one, I have only had for 2 1/2 years. He had been with his prev...

Re: (Belatedly) Showing off my Upgrade ... and Seeking Sugg

They claim it all the time. The added climbing surface was part of the point of getting it. They seem to enjoy it. ;) Lol. I'm confused. I thought it was a background that looked 3D. Flat. A picture. Not actually 3D. They're 3D. They come in different levels of thickness, but they're premade, 3D ba...

Re: (Belatedly) Showing off my Upgrade ... and Seeking Sugg

I think Tupperwares as pools are a good idea. Yes. But talk about perfect sand castle consistency! I really thought that removing the buckets and replacing them with smaller Tupperware would be far more laborious. The sand didn't shift at all, and it was a pretty easy swap that didn't disrupt the c...

Re: (Belatedly) Showing off my Upgrade ... and Seeking Sugg

I should also follow up and announce that I have gone back to smaller Tupperware Water Pools by now. After all that trouble, I wound up adopting a couple more crabs about a week ago, and they're much smaller than the rest, so I needed to make sure that they were accommodated.

Re: (Belatedly) Showing off my Upgrade ... and Seeking Sugg
I assume that back rock wall is an aquarium backdrop? How does that work with the uth?
I don't use a uth, but a heat lamp. The tank's lid is glass, and the sponge filters in the pools have done well at keeping humidity up, despite the lamp. (I also live in Southern California, where...

Yes, this might be better suited for something like firebellied toads.
