I have had a lot of luck with murex shells and with fox shells. The turbos get pretty heavy as they get larger, and some crab simply don't seem to like the extra weight. I decorated the tank with some living Spanish moss. It took mere minutes for the crabs to start snacking. As others have said, that would be fine. However, it is going to fall apart and spoil the longer it's in the tank. You would be better off buying loose mealworms so that you can control portion and then remove them when they start to go bad.
