I assume that back rock wall is an aquarium backdrop? How does that work with the uth?
I don't use a uth, but a heat lamp. The tank's lid is glass, and the sponge filters in the pools have done well at keeping humidity up, despite the lamp. (I also live in Southern California, where...

Yes, this might be better suited for something like firebellied toads.wodesorel wrote:Tree frogs need much more height than land

Thanks. One of them just switched into a more suitably sized shell, and another looks like it's about to. They're settling in nicely.GotButterflies wrote:Congrats on the adoptions just remember the one could just be destressing because of the new environment Nice pics! Thanks for sharing!!

Re: Shell change
I will admit that over the years, I have actually lost track of who was who. My crabs are now, simply, collectively called "The Crabs." I love them, just the same.Hermiesguardian wrote: I wish I could put a little mark on a shell when they change to try and keep track.

I love seeing the babies in the nerite shells. So gorgeous and tiny. Congratulations, again.

Re: New
Welcome aboard! Since you have mentioned looking for a reputable supplier, I would encourage you to keep an eye out here, in the adoptions section, and to maybe put an ad up on Craigslist in order to see if there's someone out there who is looking to rehome the hermit crabs that they already have. W...

Re: Ecuadorian leaves his shell for sea biscuit?
Well, it took five days but he has finally moved into an actual shell. I gave him many (freshly cleaned) to pick from and he tried several on, he seemed to attracted to the shiniest shells of all, and he made his choice of a silver turbo shell which was a little odd. I will be moving him from the i...

Re: Shell change
I have always thought that part of their personality is how often they want to change shells. Some crabs just seem particularly stubborn and attached to a shell, changing very rarely, while others love to swap out at every opportunity; they've got to test run every shell before committing.

New Adoptees
I just wanted to show off my newest adoptees amid the only group that would actually enjoy seeing a few crab pictures. :) One of them has been actively meeting all of the other crabs, another has been intently hunched over the food bowl since I put them in, and the third has already started to dig u...
