Re: Greensand
Another issue with getting parcels shipped from the US to Canada is that Canadian Customs will sometimes add duty to things. As an example, I ordered silicone rings from a company in the US. The rings came to about $100 US and shipping was free (my sister and her family and I combined our order so w...
Re: Greensand
I am in Canada - but I had it shipped to California when I was there in the winter. And I only brought a little zip loc bag of it back with me because we were doing carry on luggage only. But now I have no idea when we are ever going to get back there again.

I am pretty sure there is a small glass food bowl somewhere in my tank too!

Re: HERMIES HAVE NOT MOLTED!!!
I would make the sub 6 inches all over, or if you want a slope have 6 inches as the minimum. They might not feel that they have enough available space to molt.

Re: Dry Sponges?
I put a dry sponge in my tank, but have no idea if they buried it or if they ate it. I guess next time I 'fluff' up the sub, I will see if I come across it!

Re: Test Run: Garlic?
I don't like garlic, so don't think I would like my entire tank to smell like it, LOL. I will leave that experiment to you!
The chives in my garden are coming up - do you think I should try to give them some of those? Kind of like onions but not really?

Okay, this is good that you made a new topic. I replied to your questions elsewhere but will keep it all in this thread from now on.
What are your temp and humidity?
What are you using for substrate?
How big is your tank?

Re: Not shedding exoskeleton
Are your temp and humidity good? How big is your tank? You do need to have deeper sub all over your tank (I already said that in another post).

Re: Adding Substrate over a Molter
Your sub should be at least 6 inches everywhere in the tank. You can have an incline, but the shallowest end should still be 6 inches (or three times as deep as your largest crab, whichever is deeper).

Re: What if molting hermits see light
Yes, light should be minimized when they are molting. If they are against a side of the tank, many of us cover that spot so they stay dark. Shining light a time or two likely cause any harm, but you should tell your brother that he can't do that anymore. You should also not pick up the tank - you co...

Re: Crabitat Kit Question
I can't help with the lighting question. But as for the substrate, you will need at least 6 inches through the whole tank. It's okay to have a 'slope' but the most shallow part of the slope should be 6 inches. Like Joe said, you can get a big bag of play sand and add it to the eco earth you have. Th...
