Re: Mold question

You could put springtails in your tank, they eat mold. Just make sure there are no escape routes out of the tank. They do best/require high humidity to thrive, as they have thin exoskeleton. Springtails are naturally present within the home as well. Otherwise, I'd suggest boiling the wood in salt w...

Re: He looks dusty

My understanding, as they burrow and walk around, it wesrs out their exo a bit while can dull it down. Of course, if the crab goes into water it cab also wash off a dust layer (looks like a small fine one) and can get him to look a little less dull. But of course, you don't want to bathe the crab an...

Re: What the freak?! Weird noises

Do I need to be worried about them? They have plenty of shells I thought. Should I get more? Could it be a shell thing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I dont think its a shell thing, to me it sounds more like a hierarchy thing. Nothing to worry about, as one crab wasn't continuously attacking t...

Re: Crab has begun attacking other crab to take shell

To me, it sounds like shell envy. Getting new shells (particuarlly turbos) would help diffuse the aggression. Have you considered buying online and getting the shell shipped to you? There's many shell vendors to choose from, and many members talk highly about Richard's shells and Naples name a coupl...

Re: Adding a new Hermie to a tank of two?

I am not totally an expert on this but I am pretty sure it is a pp because of the little bits of purple I see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yep, its a PP. As for introducing it, i like to give it a once over to see if its healthy as well as look out for any signs of mites; once in the clear, ...

Re: What the freak?! Weird noises

It sounds like they just were having a small fight, dominance display like you said. The fact they both disengaged, it was a harmless argument.

Re: Dim Lighting

The halogen bulbs are a little dimmer than LED, and not all are for heating as well - they will produce heat, but not enoigh to cause an issue besides localised increase by a couple of degrees. I just get the smallest bulb available, around 25 watt. On my 4ft tank, only lit up around a 1/3 of the en...

Re: Ideas for a Custom Tank

Exoterras do fine with heat mats, they designed to hold reptiles. They a nice enclosure, and reccomend to anyone that can afford one! I love my exoterra, the only issue I have is 1. Wish they were bigger (like 2ft wide, 4ft long ect) 2. Wish I purchased bigger As for putting it on a tote, you may st...

Re: Hikari Crab Cuisine?

Hikari IMO has dropped the ball, as a lot of their prodicts contain fillers in pretty high concentration. Many prefer Northfin (if its called), New Life Spectrum (my fav, also feed it to the crabs every couple of weeks. They go nuts) and fluval bug bites... some of the Tetra products dont seem thay ...

I would say E as well. Eye shape and leg plumpness, also that kind of tonna shell is common for Es. Re: Coral Has Eggs

She could. Most animals that carry there young would tend to have some instincts to protect them until they are old enough or in the cravs case, physically unable to once they hatch in the water.
