Re: Help, 63 degrees!

Hmmm, sounds like you could do with a heat lamp of some sort! they warm up larger tanks nicely & at the same time, help dry out the tank a bit (so that means you can insulate the top more & not have to worry about overly high humidity.)

Re: What's happening to my crab?

You, JJ. :) I'm wanting to see crabbies sleeping in the weird positions you described. OK, except now that I mentioned that I will get some pics of them sleeping (that takes hermit crab creepiness to a whole new level) they probably act all normal. Don't fear, I will have a camera close to the tank...

Re: What's happening to my crab?

Don't worry, my crabs love to tuck themselves into the plants and sleep on their backs, it quite cute! :) I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as they moving soon after - and looking normal - they should be fine.

Re: Gendering Your Crabs?

I always gender my crabs in the store or at their last home (if I can adopt). I find that the hermies are willing to come out of their shells when they are at a familiar place - which I would too. :) Plus i get all these weird looks from other customers & at the same time teaching the store a little...

Umm, no way! I heard that they have totally different requirements & it would be unfair on one species.

How about some leopard geckos? :)

Or if you want to go crazy, how about some gerbils or mice?

Re: Tank size vs. Humidity?

Well, yes in a certain sense.
A bigger tank will have more air space which is good humidity wise, just not good on our pockets! That means it is easier to keep a larger tank stable due to more air being present in the tank, if you have fish tank or aware of fish tank, it a similar matter! :)

It was night time, it was dark, that's why you couldn't see anything. The camera is the right way, it's just not very good and doesn't have nightt vision. Of course it had to be night time! Now that I am looking at it I can see! I guess I just have to log on early in the morning to view the c...

Re: Perks of pumps

A pump isnt the same as a filter. The pump just blows bubbles into your pool. The filter is either in tank or hang on back, and sucks up water to pass through the filter media, and spits filtered water bavk into your tank. The filter media lets you cycle the pool and build your load of good bacteri...

Re: What kind of heater?

I find heat lamps to be the best thing besides silicone! My tank is constantly humid & using a heat lamp balances out my tank nicely.

Have you looking into ceramic heaters? I heard they similar to heat lamp however they don't produce the lighting making good to use at night.
