Re: What shell's do Aussie's prefer?

Thank you! I think I'm going to get some land snail shells, Babylonians and some Japanese land snail shells (Do you think these are okay?) They may not go after the Jap snails shells, but worth the try. Some crabbers say their crabs love them, so who knows really! Best to give them a wide variety t...

Re: Blueberry, Indo & PP crabs

It's okay to keep PP's and an E together, right? Mine seem to love each other! Many have success with the mix, others dont! If its working currently, it should be fine. I forgot to mention, false blueberries (they still labelled as blueberries as they are a rather 'recent' described species, or som...

Re: Blueberry, Indo & PP crabs

Many have had success with mixed tank, and to my knowledge all species can be kept in the same tano successfully. (Of course, some members have had issues with mixed species tanks, but adding any hermie, even the same species, is a gamble.) Blueberries and Indos are exotics, and the only requirement...

Re: What shell's do Aussie's prefer?

Just saw your post. My crabs hate turbo shells, I have a whole stack of them abd never seen one of my aussies change into one. They love oval shaped shells. My crabs favourites: - pheasant shells (firm favourite!) - whale eyes (moon eyes) - Ton shells - land snail shells (this one here is a firm fav...

Re: Methane Blue

Shrimp are now so inbred that a small parameter shift can kill off an entire colony while in the past, wasn't much of an issue. So if it can hold up on shrimp, I think it will likely be fine for our hermies.

Re: New Hermit Species in the 75 Gallon and Update

Awesome crabs! The halloween hermies aee really prrtty, abd look like they can grow rather large! Oh wow, these are very cool! Am I correct that these are 'marine' hermit crabs, where the PP's (etc) that most of us have are 'land' hermit crabs? Yes, these are all marine hermies. Sent from my SM-G935...

Re: 65 Gallon New Crabitat!

Superglue would also be a good option, as it bonds better to plastics compared to silicone - and fsster drying/can dry within the tank as the moisture will quicken the process.

Re: Hands-off or hands-on? I'd like to bring a thought to the table

I’ve gotten to the point I don’t even like opening the lid letting in 65 degree air. So I try to limit it to once a day when I add food and water the moss on the wood which will never becomes established with crabs snacking on it. Although they seem to prefer one variety in particular unless they j...

Re: 65 Gallon New Crabitat!

Thanks, we can't wait to add everyone to it! Our crabs love the tension rods! We wrap them with hemp or jute rope and they love to hang out on them, even the babies. They also make great places to attach ropes and other stuff too. The only downside is that the Flukers rods only stretch to 15". With...

Congrats on the upgrade, i like the supports you did on the background with the tension rods. My crabs would love perching on them. Haha

Re: Fish

Its a risk, but yes you can. Internal issues can arise and lead ti a subsequent fish death, and can happen rather quickly.
