Re: Review My Crabitat

I just can't agree with you on the stress coat. It's not something the crabs need so why give it to them. Dechlorinator is pointless since it's also not needed. Everyone who has hermit crabs should be using spring water for both their fresh and saltwater. Many water conditioners add in some variant...

Re: Review My Crabitat

Stress coat is not fine. I remember a few folks saying that it can clog up their gills. Simply not true, and this misinformation can be highly damaging in the crabbing community. The stress coat additive really does nothing to gills of crabs - and fish - and simply used as a mean for fish to increa...

Re: Review My Crabitat

Stress coat is fine and safe to use.

Imo, I'd just focus on slightly deeper pools and giving him a little more variety such as food scraps from your meals or small offcuts of fruit/veg.

Re: Greetings Everyone I’m Back In Action lol

But keep in mind, as they grow they ll need to be seperated or placed in larger tank.

If you want the 90g to be somewhat permanent, I'd cap it around 6 - 10.

Welcome back to crabbing, you've probably found not a whole lot has changed since you're last on.

Re: Can I see your water pools?

Here's mine.
Freshwater is a small tupperware container (ladder made out of mesh, has pothos in it) and far right, saltwater pool - glass siliconed in, access by rocks to submerge.Image

Re: Light Changes Crabs' Behaviors

I kinda noticed the same, that the crabs have a different schedule as well. I kinda thought it was me imaging things.

I do now think the lights do help increase activity during the day.

Re: I’ve Been Cleaning my Stuff with Tap Water!!

I just rinse in tap water, been doing it since I first started. The remaining water will lead to chlorine to quickly evaporate; and chloramine/heavy metals are in such low concentrations to be an issue.

Its safe to do so :)

Yep, fine and safe to use. Exactly the same as the bricks in the pet store, just different labels. :)

Re: Basketball Net??

I'd be wary if it is dyed, but a synthetic polymer I don't see the harm. Of course, keep an eye on it as crabs have been known to be tangled in nets.

Re: Test Run: Garlic?

Wait.... Garlic is on the unsafe list? Since when??? :hlol: I've been offering it to my crabs (usually its due to other foods being seasoned with it) for ages now. My theory was its great for my fish and shrimp, as I have food in my rotation that has garlic in it so haven't even batted an eye giving...

Re: Pictures For Instagram

Why haven't there been any posts on IG? Thats really been my fault. Start of covid and lockdown left my course at uni converting to online. While I don't want to start a massive pity thread, it left me focusing on my priorities. I really should start it back up again, so that was a serious good kic...

Re: Plant Food In Spider Plants

I'd reccomend repotting it in something like EE, abd doing a quarantine (growing it out the the tank for 2-3 weeks) before adding it to the tank.

Re: Mold question

You could put springtails in your tank, they eat mold. Just make sure there are no escape routes out of the tank. They do best/require high humidity to thrive, as they have thin exoskeleton. Springtails are naturally present within the home as well. Otherwise, I'd suggest boiling the wood in salt w...
