Re: Substrate in Water Pools
Im always team 'add something to the pool so they have traction'. When they submerge, or of they do, they like to go to the bottom and let most of the air out. Something to grip on makes it a lot easier.

Re: No0b looking for answers!
Most crabbers that have multiple tanks hate it as it increases maintenance. Multiple food bowls, water bowls (which one already has two!), cleans, hides, heat mats, plug sockets ect.

Re: PPS Method Question
I know crabbers that swear by it, but I honestly dont support the method but understand that its a 'different strokes for different folks' situation. From an aquarist perspective, doing something like a PPSD method is far more harmful than getting the fish/inverts in good conditions stat, and most e...

Re: Santa brought my son Crabbies!
Hiya! Just wanted to put a little input on the handling part. Now from what I understand, crabs are a hands-off pet, especially with kids as if they nip there's a chance of the crab being flung. I don't exactly see why a hermit crab would need to be accustomed to humans, as you don't need to hold t...

Re: New To Proper Care And This Site!
Welcome to the board! The black particles in the prime is a bit of a worry, it should smell (it has sulphur in it, causing it to smell like eggs) but the black floaties.... defs no. I'd return and ask for another. Keep a good eye on the temps, 25C is fine, but your profile mentions your in Aus (I go...

I just use a normal home humidifier and shoved a piece of aquarium tubing in the output.

Glad it went relatively smoothly throughout the entire process! Now the fun part of waiting for them to come up.
And thanks, I also have it as a 'written form' in the forum, if you haven't checked it out already

Re: Humidity with a topper
As someone who uses a humidifier in their tank, they do work and flooding is really an issue if the tank is tightly sealed, condensation coupled with excessive amounts of moisture going into the substrate. Just keep an eye on the substrate moisture, and if needed, have a moss pit/water bowl undernea...

Re: Crabs in college
Yes, but it’s non-traditional and many colleges here require new students to live on-campus their first year. Honestly, that's so odd that the school requires students to live on campus, even for the first year. In Aus, the students that do move for uni, there's no requirement for students to live ...

Re: Transporting mid-molt?
Nothing wrong with posting your own question, even if its been answered. The search function helps a lot in answering questions, but if one requires further clarification, it's always worthy of a post! Now, to answer if I was in your shoes, I'd dig up the moulters and then allow them to surface moul...
