It looks like he's smiling. Gotta love that healthy tail.
What would you say is his prognosis at this point? Is he still getting pain killers? Does he have any improvement in his front legs or will they stay the way they are? Sorry for all the questions. The Kid just has me fascinated.

Re: Swapping Shells Back and Forth
I have a PP with a four shell collection, two red and two green. They range in size from too small to too large. He changes shells at least daily.

Re: Garden?
I've planted barley, sunflower, turnip, peppers, lettuce, millet, and wheat. They will sprout and grow and are good for a few weeks to a month. Eventually they all give up. You want to be sure to use untreated seed.

Look at all the weight he has put on. And that face! I never thought I would say a lizard is cute, but that's exactly what he is. Thanks for the update.

Re: Crabitats with other animals?
You're a better person than I am, because I doggedly went ahead and did it after reading that it was a bad idea. I felt pretty bad when I found that poor frog dead.

Re: Crabitats with other animals?
I have a large tank, 225 gallons, and have done some of this. I wouldn't call my experience successful. The long and short of it is I don't recommend it. Just because you can provide the correct humidity, temp, etc. for a creature doesn't mean that it will be comfortable in those conditions with ano...

Re: Finally!
He took a chicken bone from me last night. He actually started to eat while I was holding it. He was on the upper level, and he dropped it once and stayed still until I picked it up and gave it back to him.

Finally!
After crabbing for seven years, I finally have one that I think will eventually take food from my hand. "Green" is a jumbo and may be one of the originals. I was able to place a shrimp tail in front of him and leave my hand there while he started to eat. This morning he stayed still while I place a ...

Re: Plants..?!
The plants that I have tried to plant in Ecco earth have all died. I keep them in small pots, and eventually all of them would die if I didn't rotate them out of the tank. Some of the ones that have worked best for me are pothos, peace lily, and spider plant. I also sprout barley and sunflower seeds...
