Re: Pill bugs

Yep, they stay on the ground, and they are good at hiding. I rarely see the ones in my tank.

Re: my light!

That's a pretty good run though. I'd be thrilled if mine lasted that long...wait, I think it's close. Now that I've said it, it will probably be gone tomorrow.

A hermit crab down molting won't be seen for weeks or months. Hermit crabs require much more in terms of care than a simple fish tank. There are a lot more...

Is this an acceptable silicone to use in a tank?

I can find the GE silicone 1 for windows and doors in clear. I'd like to use something with a color to hide the egg crate for a false bottom that will show against the glass of the tank. I found this. http://smile.amazon.com/Red-Devil-081640-Silicone-Architectural/dp/B003TEH2Q4/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qi...

Does anyone use a moisture meter?

Have any of you you used a soil moisture meter like this one to monitor the soil moisture levels in their crabitat? I used to use one on my plants. It was pretty accurate. It might be a nice way to check moisture levels especially for some of those deeper substrate levels. http://smile.amazon.com/Et...

Re: Adding other animals.

I've kept guppies in the FW pool. It was filtered and about 3 gallons. I meant for the crabs to be able to eat the guppies. They didn't and I ended up giving guppies away every few months to thin the school. I've also put earthworms in the tank. The crabs hunted them down and are them, which was fin...
