Re: Delivery from giant land!

I’m jealous. Large cholla pieces like that are really hard for me to find, for some reason Same here. The longest pieces I’d been able to find before now were around 12-14”. But then the company from whom I order all my Rhac (and some crab) supplies started carrying Galapagos brand products, includ...

Re: Using Only EcoEarth

I’ve used 100% EE for the ~10 years I’ve kept crabs. Never had any issues.

Re: Thermometer Hygrometer Question

I use the ExoTerra digital combo thermometer/hygrometer. It has a remote sensor that hangs in the tank with the display placed on the outside of the tank. I’ve had the same one for... 6?... years with no issues, and have only had to replace the batteries once in that time. Can be operated in C or F....

Delivery from giant land!

Exciting weekend plans (not pictured: the hamster wheel which arrived broken and will be replaced). The 2 pieces of cholla are 3ft+ long, for reference. I have a date with the saw tomorrow! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190830/1b1b6e3fefca281de7a919eb3fdd8987.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapat...

I've got a good feeling this guy is gone. There were zero signs of life from him at all.
I’m sorry to hear it.

Re: High pitched chirping while buried

I put them in their own tanks becuase the small one would get attacked every 10 minutes. The "attacker" is completely fine now on his own and the other one is stil buried in the other tank making the noise It’s odd for a crab to repeatedly “attack” another crab if all conditions are ideal. While on...

Re: High pitched chirping while buried

Hi there! When you say you separated the crabs “into their own spaces,” do you mean that you moved one of the crabs into a separate tank, or did you just separate them and then leave them in the same tank? If the latter, are they both underground and one is chirping? Or is one above ground and the o...

Seeking recommendations: thermostat/heat regulator

Hi folks! Does anyone have a thermostat/regulator they absolutely love and would like to recommend? My house is old and lovely and drafty and an all-around pain in the *** to keep consistently heated, and after 3 winters here and a lifetime more to look forward to, i’m done with the thrice daily pee...

Re: Molting crab in 3" EE with possible mites?

From reading, the crabs aren't really safe safe (post-PPS) until after a successful first molt. I've worried about everything from this guy not getting proper care/nutrients to survive the first molt and so on. I believe he is an E based on memory here (why didn't I take a few pics of him? lol). Wi...

Re: Molting crab in 3" EE with possible mites?

Hi there! It sounds like you’re doing all the right things for your crabs, the first moult in your care can be pretty unnerving! You’re not the only one to panic. I wouldn’t be worried about the little guy moulting in shallow sub since you have him alone in the temp tank, and from what I gather once...

Re: Molting in EE Only

And it looks like I spoke too soon, little crab is buried again 😞. I should've moved him over before work. What are the odds that he's just buried himself again and I could simply dig for him? If he has actually started molting, which I doubt, would that happen so quickly once they're down? I would...

Re: Molting in EE Only

Is there an issue with warming the substrate as well as the air? I've got an UTH coming, but I just realized that it's going to cover the entire back of my tank, substrate and all, as it's an 11x17. Should I not use it and try for a 6" tall one? I wouldn’t recommend covering the entire back of the ...

Re: Molting in EE Only

How careful do I need to be when it comes to the freeze-dried food? For example this Flukers product looks like it's only crickets, nothing added, but they were gut loaded with a calcium food beforehand. Is that still safe to use? https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/food/flukers-freeze-dried-crickets-...

Re: Molting in EE Only

Thank you, and I agree! I'm definitely going to upgrade them into a larger setup when I move in a couple of weeks. Which reminds me of one other thing: I ordered an Ultratherm UTH for the tank, I'm assuming I can just use tape to attach it to the tank? Yep, just duct tape it on the side, and you ca...
