That is a really cool set up! I'm sure they love climbing over into another room lol.

Re: 150 gallon progress thread

On the left hand side you can see a tape mark. That's where I'm planning to have the sand come to... Mostly so that I can actually reach in there and fix stuff when I need to! I already ordered 15 bags of sand, though I know that's not going to come anywhere close to filling it >.> 15 bags is perfe...

Re: what is my spotted hermit protecting?

I don't know anything about marine hermit crabs, but if they molt like land hermit crabs; which I imagine they do, it could be Dan's exoskeleton. For whatever reason he could have buried it so that he could eat it later or something; that would be my only guess. If he and your other crab(s) are hea...

Re: Pill/potato bugs breeding

I just plucked mine out of the yard and tossed them in the tank. I don't use any pesticides so they are fine. I tried breeding them in their own enclosure, but I forgot about them for too long and well..... I decided to just put them straight in the crabitat the second time.

Re: Crabs Twerking...not sure what this is (totally serious)

When the PP's do it does it make noise? That is how they chirp I think, they rub their abdomens in the shell. The E's are modifying their shells to make more space. Normal behavior for both species. Nothing to worry about, twerk on lol.

Re: Is my hermit crab dead?

What are the temps in your tank? If it's too cold that could be another reason why they aren't active

Re: Dug up Molters

I left her alone last night and she reshelled by herself! I'm just going to give her a quick dunk in some fresh water to wash out any debris that may be on her. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/15/b2965623e6aa50f4bf63c795331d8b1e.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/15/5c93894aa34d84d6...

Re: Is my hermit crab dead?

The yellow just looks like food or moss. I agree that the crab looks to be in good condition, probably just stressed.

Re: Dug up Molters

I already tried that :( in fact when I found her she was under a coconut hut with her shell and exo. I've given her 2 lighter shells close in size too, she's checking them out but hasn't tried them on yet. :/

Re: Dug up Molters

She is getting around and eating but not reshelling. I really don't want to touch her or stress her out anymore. She has that layer of damp moss to keep her abdomen moist until morning. If she hasn't reshelled by then I will mess with her. Never had a streaker before so hopefully I'm doing ok. Now I...

Here she is, weak but holding on. I'm going to give her some salmon, eggshell, bee pollen, and honey. Image
