Re: New ruggies!

Yeah, they are quite similar! But the eyes are kind of different, I think.
Aussies are so cute btw!

It doesn't look like spider mite.
The young mites (I guess) are white-beige in color.

I feel so sorry for the poor crab! He's so bored in his ISO tank, and is spending most of his time trying to escape :/

Re: New ruggies!

Thanks!
hermitcrablover1 wrote:They are beautiful. Where did you get them from?

I ordered them from my local pet store :) I live in Sweden, and right now the only species that can be ordered are ruggies, violas and straws.

New ruggies!

Today I got 3 new ruggies to keep with my PP. I'm not good at sizes, but I think one is tiny/small, one small and one small/medium. All seem to be healthy and very outgoing, though the biggest one got some creepy mites. "My" crab will be named Ruby (I have stone theme on mine), I'm thinking of "clai...

Re: Red mites on new crab

I've given him a bath, but none of the mites would come off. Now he's in a "sterile" iso, and one mite has come off in the freshwater bowl. I hope more will follow!

Re: Red mites on new crab

Yeah, I was afraid of that... They look a bit like one of the good mites, but I guess they wouldn't stick to the crab like these does.
Thank you!

Red mites on new crab

I just got 3 new crabs, C. rugosus, and on one of them i found 2 big and red mites. I've bathed him and all, but they wont let go! I've looked at the mite thread, but I don't think they are very similiar to any of the mites there. I don't think I'll be able to take any photos of them until they come...

ISO new crabs

Hey guys! I have a lone PP who's getting 3 new buddies on wednesday. The new guys will be ruggies (C. rugosus). I'm unsure of how I'll introduce them to my PP. Should I ISO them a while before putting them in the main tank? If I should ISO them, how long should I wait before I introduce them? I don'...

Re: Hermit crab not moving

PPS is not your fault. I have lost 1 of every 4 approximately from it. You are giving them a better chance at surviving the stress than the certain death they would face if someone who doesn't take care of them properly purchased them. It is very sad to lose them but all you can do is what you are ...

Re: Hermit crab not moving

Thanks guys, I've been giving him nice food and changing it everyday, but I don't think he's been touching it. I still think he hasn't moved from his spot in all this time. He's been moving a little bit in his spot but nothing more. I poked at him now, and he does'nt react at all :( I'm afraid he's ...
