Re: Operation Adoption

No problem! I'm sure I can find something that'll work.

Oh, and I forgot to say I love your tank! My crabs are jealous ;)

Re: Operation Adoption

Where did you get the suction cups that the dark colored vine is going through? I have a thick rope I want to put in for my guys and can't figure out how to do it.

Re: Best place to but hermit crabs?

You could post a "want" ad on Craigslist, looking to take in hermit crabs that people no longer can care for or want. Or search on Craigslist in case someone has posted an ad and contact them. Or, you can go here: http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=13 Find whichever topic has you...

Re: Best place to but hermit crabs?

I'm a big fan of adopting versus buying, but I know that's not always an option. Most pet stores carry hermit crabs, but I would avoid stores that keep them in crummy conditions. At my local Petsmart they keep their conditions fairly good, they're not in painted shells, etc. I don't feel AS guilty b...

Re: Limp crab, no death smell?

My hubby is pretty tolerant of my obsession, but nowhere near as supportive as you guys are! He has buried every crab I've lost, no complaints, so I'm grateful for that at least. I don't understand the mindset of people, either - just because they're not furry or cuddly doesn't mean they're not just...

Re: Limp crab, no death smell?

Thank you for the condolences, everyone. My friends/family don't really understand my attachment since they're "just crabs" so it's really nice to have the HCA and its awesome people :)

Re: New Crab Owner In need of Advice

Are most foods on the crabbage patch pretty good? I thought the "Crabby Delights Meal Deal" looked pretty good. I have a ton of foods from them, and my crabs like everything. They really like the Meal Deal. Also, they sell a complete kibble by Colorado Critter Co that my crabs enjoy. It has a good ...

Re: Food advice

Check out The Hermit Crab Patch - http://www.hermitcrabpatch.com. They have tons of dried foods, many of which are ground so you can't see individual bugs/shrimp/whatever.

Re: Limp crab, no death smell?

Thanks guys. Unfortunately this morning he has the death smell :( He fell out of his shell. No sign of injury that I could see. I rechecked everything in my tank. Temp and humidity are consistent, substrate is good..I offer fresh water and Instant Ocean salt water, both dechlorinated. Food is a wide...

Limp crab, no death smell?

I'm thinking one of my small PPs, Turbo, has died but I'm not sure. I got him on July 18th, he buried August 5th and came up on August 31st freshly molted and seemingly healthy. On September 10th I upgraded to a 55 gallon and moved him and my others over. He seemed fine at the time. I rearranged/red...

You can also cover the lid with foil. I hate messing with plastic wrap, and I did for a while but I hate how it feels when it gets wet from the humidity. Maybe I'm just weird.

Re: Which fogger/mister to get?

Another option is to get an ultrasonic misting humidifier that you would use in the house. I use this one: http://www.amazon.com/Crane-Ultrasonic-Humidifier-Gallon-output/dp/B005PK7RW4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1413337453&sr=8-3&keywords=ultrasonic+humidifier and love it. I run PVC tubing from the top ...

Re: Big aspirations..

I find there faces plastered on the glass2..I kinda figured it was a payback & imitation of what I do 2 them, making me do a double take, lol Haha! Sometimes I'm alone in the room and feel something staring at me...and it's one of the crabs. They're either imitating me or trying to brainwash me int...
