Re: pest control
Hi, Pesticides are chemicals designed to kill or harm pests. Household pests can include insects such as flies, cockroaches, and mosquitoes, or rodents like mice or rats. Household pesticides can be purchased from supermarkets or hardware stores, and are designed for householders to use around thei...

Re: New Crab Mom[emoji3590] Have a question
Ok I was kinda worried because I didn’t see the part of the forum suggesting to gradually increase humidity. I have the humidity at around 70% and just added the substrate so I was thinking it was too much change in such a short period. Only one is in a painted shell so I hope he switches soon. Sen...

Re: Molter dug up, missing limbs
Here are OP’s photos from the FB page. Also- while we do encourage people who are having trouble with their crabs to use the emergency template so that areas of concern can be identified, this isn’t a requirement. People don’t have to fill it out or answer the questions unless they choose to do so. ...

There is nothing wrong with any of the shells pictured.Jamison wrote:I love the tank! But I am concerned about the shells. I only see a couple, and they aren't the right type.

Websites that humanely ship hermit crabs?
Shipping animals is horrendous to me. Maybe it's just me, but animals are not meant to be shipped at all, in any way. Period. Animals and shipping = wrong. Adopt, don't shop Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk Y’all ordered strawberries that came through the mail. They didn’t bring those over human...

Re: My crab is only wearing a shell on his butt.
Sometimes crabs prefer smaller cap like shells on their abdomens depending on species. As long as plenty of shells are offered and it is wearing a shell there isn’t really cause for concern here. You may recommend that your sibling join or answer the questions because not having answers doesn’t real...

Re: Mushroom/Fungus Floating in false bottom water
If you have water standing in the bottom of the tank, check your substrate for oversaturation. False bottoms do not protect against bacterial blooms or fungus/mold/mildew buildup that can potentially be a problem. If it smells like rotten egg at all that indicates a bacterial bloom and you’ll need t...

Re: Pp's shopping list help
They need animal and insect proteins, like dried crickets, krill, river shrimp, fish, etc. as well as leaf litter and vegetable matter. Calcium sources like eggshell, cuttlebone, and powdered shells are also important for their health.

Re: Big Crabs, Little Knowledge Here
They need to go back home. If you can take them back to the gulf they need to go. Thin stripes grow rapidly, are aggressive and setting up an aquarium properly that can hold 10 of them and give them enough room to live without cannibalizing each other means at least 100 gallon saltwater aquarium set...

If they look like sesame seeds they’re harmless food mites.

Re: Giving E's their own tank?
I’ve got PP’s, E’s and straws in one tank and have for around 2 years (since I got the straws), and the E’s have been in with my PP’s since 2015.
No issues.

Re: Mistakenly dug up moulters. (I know, I’m an idiot. Let’s move on)
Hermit crabs can eat many of the foods we do, and are easy to feed from scraps from preparing meals. Cheap food items can also be picked up at grocery stores and places like Walmart. A small container of dried shrimp from the pet section is a couple of dollars and will last a while with just two cra...

Re: Has anyone else had issues ordering from Hermie's Kitchen?
They seem to have a huge processing time, and they say it's due to the fact that they receive so many orders. I ordered a bag of worm castings that took two weeks to arrive, one week to ship and the other to travel to my house. Their Etsy FAQ clearly states that some items take longer to process th...
