Re: Has anyone else had issues ordering from Hermie's Kitchen?
The owner is a friend and I will reach out to them. She had a flood in her home recently that caused some orders to be delayed and when she let people know they got upset. I believe HK was also on vacation but I could be wrong. HK is a great, independently run and operated business and the owner doe...

Re: Marine hermit crabs from beach!
They are thin stripes and if you can get them back to the beach take them. I rescued two of them from HCA members about 6 months apart because they got brought home in shells. They grow quickly, are aggressive, and need a complete marine tank setup. They are fully aquatic. I think the only reason so...

Re: New member, new crab owner!
Like SG said, it's not appropriate. There are definitely some things that you will be able to use in a new set-up. But other things will need to be changed up ASAP. Re: New member, new crab owner!
Unfortunately, this setup isn’t appropriate for hermit crabs but it can be fixed with some tweaking.

Thanks, we have been really trying to get him back into shape. As long as he has the will to keep fighting we will be there to help him. It's funny you say he is a trooper. Eddie is named after Iron Maiden's mascot and The Trooper is one of their most popular songs! Tonight there was no streaking f...

Re: Molting E in Bacterial Bloom & Lost Limbs
E’s are notorious for ditching shells, and they will do it if: They feel threatened, they have something stuck to their abdomen, they lack energy to carry the weight of a shell, if someone picks them up and they don’t wanna be picked up (could also fall under “they feel threatened”.) No, they do not...

Re: Should I get crabs?
Yea,I'm very aware any pet can die in any amount of time for any reason. Sad,but true. The time I get to experience with them is worth it! Do you find your crabs worth it? Are you glad you got into them? :D I didn’t choose to get into crabbing; they were a gift given to my kiddo, and now have a 150...

Re: Should I get crabs?
They die alot? But don't they live for at least a decade in captivity, and several decades in the wild? So... If I got three, chances are two would die within a month or sooner? Ugh... That's so sad! :( Even if I have EVERYTHING set up perfectly, they'll still die? If you have everything up perf...

Re: Upgrading!
I finally got my false bottom in and siliconed, so hopefully next weekend I’ll be mixing up all my substrate and decorating! I’m dreading leaving my 75 gallon tank up while I wait for my 2 crabs to come up. Especially since my one E just went down a few days ago and usually takes a month or so ever...

Re: Should I get crabs?
If you don’t take pet deaths well then I would advise against getting hermit crabs. Odds are that at least 1/3 you want to get will die, possibly all. The harsh reality of crabbing is that the majority don’t survive long in captivity. There are some that seem to be hardier than others but hundreds o...

Re: Review - All Living Things Freshwater & Saltwater Solution
I think this is just a marketing ploy by the pet store. A cheap way for people to get out of buying Instant Ocean, which is what the crabs need and is as close as they’re going to get to real ocean water. The people in the pet stores have no control of what products they carry. That is decided at a...

Re: Hermit crab water bowl
There isn’t really a proper size, as long as they can submerge they are good. You can use tupperware or reusable containers from the grocery store if you want to.
