Re: I got my hands on a 55 gallon tank!

Alright, here are the pics! Again, I haven't had too much time so I don't think I am finished with all the arrangements of the tank yet, but this is what I have. Filling up the tank with sand and eco earth. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160222/c7163e24dc7c806c3790c20c492bc016.jpg http://uploads....

Re: I got my hands on a 55 gallon tank!

Hello world! I know this is a pretty old topic, and I've finally got time to finish my 55 gallon tank! I have filled it up with substrate, added all the decorations and essentials, and of course added my crabby family to the tank, and it looks like everything is great so far! I have planned to finis...

Re: My poor thing dropped a limb! Help!

Hey everyone! Merry Christmas first of all, but I wanted to update you on my hermit crab situation. I did consider for a little bit to stop the crabbing adventures, but I have decided to keep going at it. I especially decided this when my family got me two more hermit crabs for Christmas! I want to ...

Re: My poor thing dropped a limb! Help!

I'm so sorry parker_roo. :comfort: I don't think your idea of the 55 is a bad one. If you still enjoy hermits, you should keep moving forward with them. :) Accidents happen, and not every molt will be successful. A fresh tank will correct anything that might be wrong, if that's your concern. Hermit...

Re: My poor thing dropped a limb! Help!

Hey everyone. I'm sad to say that Ollie did not make it. I never got a chance to put her in iso because I was so busy. It feels awful to go from four crabs to two crabs, since my other one, Hendel passed a few weeks ago. I'm still not sure what the problem is, but I have this 55 gallon tank I have h...

Re: My poor thing dropped a limb! Help!

Being disturbed a few weeks ago wouldn't have made this happen now. If he was that easy to find though, another crab could have chased him up early. Some crabs like to molt under a solid structure. It's just what they do. Iso is never a bad idea when you have a situation like this with other crabs ...

Re: My poor thing dropped a limb! Help!

He molted within I'd say the last week or so. That color of indicative of not being fully hardened. The fallen leg is definitely his, but he's not missing either of his claws. Could another crab have dug him up? Is the sub a good consistency all the way down? I would agree with you. When I attempte...

Re: My poor thing dropped a limb! Help!

1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it?  *It's a mixture of EE and play sand, and it is about 6 inches deep.* 2. Do you have gauges in the tank to measure temperature and humidity? If so, where are they located and what temperature and humidity do they usually read?  *Yes,...

My poor thing dropped a limb! Help!

Okay, so here is the info. I was changing the food and water in my tat, when I found a limb! My Hendel was close to the water dishes and I gently picked him up and moved him to change the water. But when I removed the FW, there was a claw next to the water dish. I really don't think he dropped it wh...

Re: Possible Post-Molt Problem, I Need Some Guidance

Hey everyone, I've been working a lot lately, so I haven't had time to keep you updated. Unfortunately Ollie did not make it, and passed away. Yes, it is always very sad to lose one of my little buddies, but I'm just glad she isn't suffering any longer. I buried her in my back yard, rest in peace my...

Re: What is the best food to buy online?

Hey, sorry it has been forever since I replied to this topic. But any way, I did buy the sample of each diet from TheHappyHermitSupply, on Etsy. I have been feeding my crabs this food for about a month now, and they don't touch it! For some reason, they won't eat it. I change up the variety every d...

Re: Possible Post-Molt Problem, I Need Some Guidance

Okay, here is my next problem. Ollie is refusing to come out of her shell for me to hand feed her. I've waited for about 45 mins, and she won't come out. I'm not sure if it's that she is too weak to come all the way out, or if she is scared. But I've had her out, propped up to the position that she ...

Re: Possible Post-Molt Problem, I Need Some Guidance

Okay, I have some great news! It looks like I have just over reacted, and thought too much into the situation. Marcel is okay! He just came up from his molt on Sunday! I'll post a picture! But Ollie isn't doing too well. She still seems weak, but I just need to spend more time helping her regain her...

Re: Possible Post-Molt Problem, I Need Some Guidance

Alright, so Ollie isn't doing too well. She is in iso, but she has gotten much paler and weaker! I checked on her today and it seems like she hasn't moved in a day or two. I took her out of the tank to take a closer look at her. When she finally came out of her shell, she was almost white. Plus she ...
